SO LONG STORY SHORT my girl Zara (who is a vampire) accidentally kills her girlfriend Eva about a 2 or 3 years before my story starts, and she obviously is grieving an blames herself.

When she joins with my main group and confronts the villain the memories are brought back and basically sets her back to square one where she is very guilty and depressed, later when she gets one wish from basically a primordial immortal being she chose to completely wipe her memory of Eva. I want to know if it seems like a bit much or I'm just thinking about it way too much. If you need me to elaborate more I'll do it but what does y'all think?

Because she you live with knowing that she killed her and thinks Eva would never forgiver her. Zara does have an issue with believing people when they tell her that they aren't mad at her. In all reality I do think Eva would forgive Zara because the cause of her death was out of Zara's control but in Zara's head she thinks Eva would even kill her back.

Let's just say that her mind was overreacting and she chose to wipe her memory of her.

I don’t believe that is an overreaction! I’m currently studying psychology and grief/guilt is an intense thing that can make us do different things! A lot of the time, the brain will block out bad memories (like severe trauma or abuse as a child, for example), and you will not even know it unless something is triggered and those memories are brought to the surface. So it does make sense that, if taking a magical approach, she would go straight to forgetting because that would be what might naturally happen anyways. Hope that helps some!
