its many dimensions.
the first is just like what we live in.
theres one where the sun burnt out and everyone is living in giant metal shelters. the people are slightly genetically altered to survive like that. plants are extinct so they make protein.
one is like the first but global warming has taken over, thats where most of the story takes place.
I have a few more ideas but these are the ones that are most developed. Im just bad at finding names so Im looking for ideas. unique ones. if it helps, i have a main character named Demelzia Echo Mirlock. so thats the style Im looking for.

@PuffPoff

It sounds strange, but for place names I always use Google Translate. I type in a word related to the place I need a name for (ex. If it's a warm planet I might type in heat) and then see what the word is in other languages (I use Latin the most). Based off of that I can usually get a few cool names.

hey I have an idea for you
rearrange letters in existing names maybe?

like, take the name Ethan
and make it into Tenah or something
then just add something in between the names to fit your style of names maybe.
( I made this name using this method > Tenah Stone Exla )
just have fun with it, I'm sure you can make really cool names! ^^
good luck with your book btw, it sounds really interesting!

I agree with the Google Translate comment, but consider the background of the 'universe' you're writing in. Did the people with the burnt-out sun originate exactly like us, on Earth? If so, they may still have some generic names, mixed with some new ones. If the people in a different alternate universe have no relation to Earth and our current time/place/setting/etc, then their names would be totally different as the history of different names would be completely different. Google translate would not be helpful for this, because heaven knows what kind of languages they may have. However, for some of my names, I based them off of obscure roots that not many people know, but even if they did, it wouldn't really change the universe - despite the fact that the universe may be totally different, sometimes it's nice to have relatable content (however obscure) that can give readers more of a connection to the universe and the characters. Hope this (kinda) helped! Good luck!!

ok, so I use google translate for last names and type in words that correlate with that character, I normally I use Spanish, French, or Italian because I'm stupid and didn't think of latin
