Caboose
This guy basically hates humans but I don't wanna follow along the same lines of X-men and just make it all about segregation.
I wanna have a solid motive for this guy wanting to cause absolute mayhem.

Religion-
While this is sometimes a motivation for terrorists, most religions don't actually promote violence. Oftentimes if it's a religious motivation, the terrorists are misinterpreting the teachings of such religion, are using said religion as a scapegoat, or their religion, rare as it is, actually told them to do such things.
Power-
What's the best way to get the government's attention while simultaneously intimidating them? Well…I suppose the answer is kind of obvious, else I wouldn't be asking. Anyway, if you can convince a government or some form of power to do something, threatening "or else I'll blow up the city of New York", the government will either negotiate or try to hunt you down.
Mental Health,,,or lack thereof-
Clearly someone who would willingly kill up to hundreds of thousands of people probably aren't right in the head. Most terrorists exhibited psychological struggles upon arrest.
Statement Against Society-
Whether it be making a statement on a culture's dismissal of violence, or making a statement on a nation's oppression, the unfortunately most effective way to make this statement heard is through acts of extreme violence.
This is all I can really think of. I know there are a few more, but going by the fact that the basis of this character is his hatred for humans, suicide bombers and being an impressionable child/young adult that was threatened or tricked into participating in such awful acts don't seem like a reasonable motivation for someone who hates humans anyway. Hope I helped!
