How do you think blind people would be treated in Chinese culture back then? Because my character in Chinese, blind, and enlists in a war to try to get away from her overprotective family. Am I doing this right cause I have no clue?

Oh, that's actually a good question. I'm gonna boost this because I'm also writing stuff with Asian (mostly Chinese) elements though more modern-day. I'll get back to you after doing an as thoroughly comprehensive research as I can manage through the power of the internet (different countries, different results).
