So, I want to represent Islam in my writing, but I want to do it in a way that actually represents what Islamic people are, ya know… like. I want to write a Muslim woman working as an archeologist on a space mission, it's going to be an action story but I want to know things about background and such. I want her to be Indonesian, since that area of the world also rarely gets represented, but I don't know where to start regarding culture, beliefs, "denomination"*, etc.
Any help or resources you can give could help a lot. Thanks!
*I say denomination because it's the closest term I can think of but I also know that it's a very Christianity-centered term, so if there's a better term let me know.
