Well, my character Kage is pushed into a capture the flag game where he is assigned to protect some demigod due to being the extra deadly sin, despair, anyway how to write him being the embodiment of despair other than him being a misanthrope and not believing in supernatural elements, also what separates despair from sloth
Well…if you imagine what despair feels like and what brings it on. I think despair can be linked with things like misfortune and loss. It's a hollow feeling sorta like a cold wind on a miserable day.
And despair and sloth are two very different things. Sloth is uncaring and apathetic whereas I feel that despair is caused by caring too much and being too attached to something or someone.
you ever read A Tale of Two Cities? If you haven't, you should. It's got this really good character, Sydney Carton, and his entire vibe is "life sucks and then you die." To me, he feels like an embodiment of despair. He's not a bad person, but he is utterly and completely hopeless, without being all "woe is me" constantly.
