You could try looking up baby names, if they're a fancy character just look up "elegant names" or something like that, that's what I do if I can't come up with a name. Or just think of one of your favorite book/tv characters and use their name.

I know some people just smack their keyboards a couple times and use that. I just pick whatever name first comes up lol

Games, but almost all of my character's name was found when i'm daydreaming in the shower lmao

I usually just say something random in my head then type it out and see if it looks or sounds cool. My character, Avastiir for example is a result of that lol
I also smack my keyboard.
Sometimes I go to google translate and go english to (insert other language here) and type in something random as well.

I think about the characters personality and look up names that go with their most dominate feature. So like, a sad boy character, I look up boy names that mean sad. Or something like that.

For me, I look up words that describe them in google translate and then translate them into Latin, or I pick out a name and change the name until it fits the character. ex: Natasha ——> Tanaya

I use the names of Greek gods and I also translate to Latin a lot. For ex: my main character is named Eos, after the Greek goddess of dawn

I always pick a theme for the names in my story so that they all feel like they belong. Sometimes I make up all of the names and sometimes I pick modern sounding names. I like limiting myself for minimal choices. That's just the kind I person I am. (In my current story everyone is named after Greek gods and titans and that's really fun.)

Depends on the setting for me. If I'm writing in a setting where I would use real names then I just use google. That's a good method if you're looking for names from a certain time period, or a specific nationality.

For fantasies where I have to make up my own names I tend to just kind of mash syllables together until I come up with something that is easy to pronounce, and looks like a name. There's also fantasy name generators out there which can be helpful. I don't really use them for my main characters, and sometimes I end up changing them slightly. Still, it's a good way to get names quickly.

I either look up names that have a meaning behind them that matches my character's personality or I just put together letters and sounds that sound cool together. I'm a big fan of weird and unique names…

Mostly, when I think of a character for a while that I haven't named yet, I use the first name that comes to mind when thinking of them. However, sometimes I have characters who I want their names to mean certain things, like my mc Hinata Hayashi. Her name means a sunny place in the woods, which is tied in with her. I use Behind the Name, which is very useful for me.

No strategy, mostly I'm just going with whatever pops into my head which can be anything from John to Lord Buttons Michaelis Rudolf Heritanus Kobold Tyrik of the Bobly Friday Moors. Sometimes I just pick a random letter from the alphabet and search for names starting with that. Other times I do actually think about what culture it should come from, look for names related to it and then decided to go with whatever random thing seems to fit that style…
I should never be allowed to pick baby names.

I typically take names I've already heard, and switch out letters or sounds to make them appear more unique.

Sometimes, I'll also looks up synonyms for a certain word in other languages.

yeah, there's one less than a block away so it's one of my go to places for more normal names

Sometimes I look up a super relevant Latin name, other times if the character reminds me of someone I know I just change the name a bit. Even if it's a character from another book. XD
