hey, if you r reading this i need ur help, i want to write one of my characters as gender fluid and don't want to muck up, could you like tell me problems you might face, any thing that gets confusing, really anything at all that would make my character more believable
So I'm not actually gender-fluid but I do know a lot about the topic and the things they can face. First of all, a lot of people think their gender is stupid or fake and that they're just seeking for attention, which is similar to what bisexuals face, just for their gender instead of sexuality (people will say things like 'you can't be both genders' or 'make up your mind', etc.). Many people will get confused by what to call them and may use the wrong pronoun, but it depends on your character. Some people don't care what pronouns people use for them while others do (when referring to any of my gender-fluid characters, I say they or them unless it's already been established what pronouns they're using at the time). They may buy clothes for a certain event and when the day comes they're feeling like a different gender to what the clothes are aimed at (for example, they could buy a dress for a fancy occasion but end up feeling more like a guy that day). Again, it really depends on the character. As I said before, some may care about things like these while others will just brush it off.
I hope that helps!
I've been struggling with a genderfluid character a lot too, but I gave them a very gender-neutral look to make it a little easier.
They for example always wear hats so they don't have to struggle with masculine/feminime hair. And simple clothing, with a few specific masculine belts for example or feminine dresses/blouses.
My character doesn't make big 'differences' in clothing every day to stay unnoticed, but you could get more outgoing with that if that's what your story allows.
In my experience, sooner of later queer people form friendships with other queer people (if they've accepted this part of themselves), so maybe give them someone they can relate to.
Now I personally don't know if genderfluid falls under queer/lbgt+, but they will probably try to form friendships with like-minded people.
Hey, im genderfluid and just put a name on it. So what gets really confusing is when people crap up our pronouns so something i started to do was wear a little pin that said my pronouns for the day, this may not be for everyone but its a way that i feel more comfortable.

Yeah that's a great one to be honest (if it does work for you indeed). I thought about doing the same thing with hats, like white is he/him and than grey can be they/them.
Did you buy these pins or make them yourselves? I have a trans friend who came out as male and maybe some him/he pins could be a cute gift?
i made them but im sure you could get them online
omg thank you guys so much this is really helpful hehe
also, do genderfluid people have like a gender they are more often, like how bi's might lean more towards guys or girls?
well it depends i tend to feel like a girl or a NB more times then i feel male or both
Hai I'm late but genderfluid
If you've got any questions, just ask
Idk how to just… explain
I need something to go off lol
ayeeeeeee finger grenades
awkward thumbs up okie dokie
ok if you are 'female' do you feel like a girl more often or does it really not matter? cos my character is female and often leans more towards being a girl, so i wanna know if that happens
Well see
I have The Case Of The Disappearing Dysphoria; by Carolyn Keene
I don't identify with my body
It feels wrong.
But sometimes it feels ok
It differs for some ppl, but I don't feel like a girl as often as I identify with other things
so like your anatomy has little to no say over how you feel? i mean i have a friend who is maybe trans and people who are none binary i just have very little knowledge of genderfluid peeps except from the magnus chase series lol
i have the body of a girl but a soul that constantly changes
I'm sorry but allow me this
Rick Riordan did a terrible job of representing a fluid person
Forget anything you think you know about fluidity that came from Magnus Chase
But no, anatomy has no say
And if I had the chance, I'd become a shapeshifter so I could have the anatomy of whatever I identify with
same, and with the magnus chase books. there good just not a good representaion
