I think I worked out how to use this site, but I need help to make my character sound believable. I need a way to make him seem normal, but not boring or cliche, I'm trying to write a fantasy story where he is out of place because he's 'normal' but I'm struggling to portray him realistically, any tips?
Humans aren't boring, because they can be over emotional. Your character could be hot headed. Or, maybe he feels insecure. He could also be confused as to how magic works. So, if he does have any friends, he can hang out at their house and be super confused at the way they do things. Or, he can give off an "I don't really car about magic" vibe. So, he doesn't care that he's out of place, because he doesn't have to learn/do anything complex.

Isabel is right. Also, as a character, you want to give him little quirks and prejudices and flaws and things to make him seem more realistic. People aren't without flaws and oddities, so neither should your character be. Good luck with your story!
