I have so many character dynamics that make me go insane. I'll explain them in a second when I'm not pressed for time, but until then, I want to hear what your favorite dynamics between your characters are.

One of my favorite character dynamics is the mentor-mentee relationship. This dynamic allows for a lot of growth and development on both sides of the relationship. The mentor can teach the mentee valuable skills and lessons (while informing the reader about how things work in your fictional world), while the mentee can challenge the mentor's beliefs and assumptions with a fresh-faced perspective. This dynamic is particularly effective when the mentor and mentee have contrasting personalities or backgrounds.

I'm a sucker for a playful-yet-malicious frenemy relationship too, though. >.>

my favorite character dynamics between my characters let's go:

Bianca and Shea: Ah yes, the classic "annoyed at first sight". They go from reluctantly working together, to slowly respecting each other, to in love,,,, aaaaaaaa. They're kind of playfully flirty, but there's always a small rival-ish tone in all of their conversations. Shea even goes as far as betraying her best friend (to be fair, they were going to slice Bianca's neck open) to save Bianca from him. okay the big moment when they realize "oh shit" is when they're fighting against Paisley, and Paisley is ruthless. Bianca gets intense lacerations from flying glass–eventually passing out from blood loss–and Shea never leaves Bianca's side while Crimson bandages her wounds. When Bianca wakes up, Shea is curled up next to her and AGH. They're so funny together, kind of competitive and stupid and they hold hands and blow stuff up. and OGH when Shea's killed in the collapse of the Compound, she purposely told Jeb to not tell Bianca and to blow out the supports, regardless if she's in there or not. Bianca's heavily affected by this and she's never the same.

Abel and Haru: Troubled father/son dynamic AAAAAAAAAAA There's so much between them,,, starting with when Abel was first born, Haru loved them more than anything, but then Haru left to fight in Vienna. Being a veteran from WWIV, Haru had intense PTSD that made him feel useless if he wasnt fighting an oprressing force or doing something with his hands. Haru never stopped thinking about Abel and Abel was really too young to remember Haru, however Abel managed to gather so much contempt for his father because he left Abel's mother, Mischa, alone. After eleven years, Mischa's killed trying to protect Abel and Abel is kidnapped. When Haru finally returned home, he found out about his wife and assumed Abel was dead as well. BUT NO! During one of the big events during The Six Initiative, Abel shows up in Vienna and Haru finds him and ohohoho angst. Eventually, after all of the events of The Six Initiative, it's Haru who finds Abel in the Ghost City of Santa Fe–wandering mindless and covered in blood. Haru doesn't sleep at all the entire two and a half days Abel is in surgery to reconnect neurons and corpus callosum. They slowly and I mean so slowly manage to reconnect and Abel and Haru work through their trauma (from Donovan, WWIV, and many other factors) together and OGH. there's nightmares and crying and rebuilding bonds and fixing misunderstandings and growing and healing and OHOHOH I am so weak for parent/child relationships that aren't anywhere near perfect but they love each other so much

I don't know why i'm so drawn to loser/loner/nerd and charasmatic popular kid head over heels in love with that weird dude. But in the twisted sense. so…

I'd have to say one of my personal favorite dynamics that I've written is Vikki and Percy. Vikki's father died when she was little, and she was raised by her mother. Then her mother died, and Vikki was adopted by the CEO of a big tech company, Percy Neal. Only to find out (surprise!) her biological father is alive and is secretly the mastermind behind the tech company and a literal supervillain. Under the care of her father and his sidekick, Vikki grows to have a range of different personalities depending on her personality; at school, she's standoffish, cold, and secretive; as a later superhero, she's reckless, chaotic, awkward, and desperate for love; with Percy, she's a sassy, spoiled brat. Long story short, they're a blast to write because Vikki spends every second in Percy's presence just poking him and poking him, and he's such a man-child that he easily gets annoyed, and even though he's her "legal" guardian, they're more like siblings than anything (though both would deny it vehemently).
