Hey, I've been having a lot of trouble coming up with names for three characters in particular. I usually don't have much trouble finding character names, but these three characters… arrrgghhh. Especially since it's the type of fantasy where you'd be hard-pressed to find any Jacks or Alices running about. For example, the other characters' names are Ash, Ferrin, Vyrelia, Malkrik, and Siren. Characters 1 and 2 are the same race as Ash and are fire-based, so I'm looking for fiery names. Character 1's a girl and Character 2's a boy. I've tried Cinder for Character 1, but I keep thinking of the Lunar Chronicles character and it's not sticking. As for Character 3, she's a genderfluid changeling-harpy, and I've been looking for nature-y and air/bird-related names that don't sound too feminine. Can I please have some help??????????

I like going to nameberry (it's my go-to name finding website). For you, I think it'd be helpful to go under the nature/flower name category depending on the gender. That might be a little harder for a genderfluid character but they do have lots of genderfluid names and some might work for fantasy?

well, I have a race that worships god of fire and war (they are named by Agni, Hindu god of fire) so I have a few fire like names in my book that might help you
example: Phoenix, Blaise, Lavar (from "lava"), Ferno (from "inferno"), Kasai (japanese word for fire according to google translator)
I hope this helps

Hello! This is a trick I've used to name a load of characters. I recommend taking some random roots (Greek, Latin, randomly twisted English words, randomly Google Translated words) that represent the kind of feeling you want and then mashing them together. For example, Fiera or Fyra (similar to fire) could be a girl's name and Vuur (Afrikaans for fire) could be a boy's name (some of them sound radically different, but it's up to you). As for the genderfluid character, angel google translated into Afrikaans gives you Engel, which sounds kind of cool (and not too feminine - Angel can actually also be a boy's name). I figured angel because harpies have wings, and, well, that was that. Just a suggestion!
edit: i saw the comment below said rachellllll:) that was my user i changed it recently LMAO
