I came to a point in my story where i just realized my i have no idea on how to write a crush. Mostly due to inexperience and the situation itself
Initially, the boy met a girl from a dying race and driven by curiosity, decided to stick by her side to study her and her behavior. Eventually, his scientific curiosity moves more and more towards a romantic crush. Now, most of this happens from the perspective of the boy, as the girl seems to have no idea he has a crush on her.
Pls help ;w;

I don't have much experiences with crushes/relationships either but i know that having a crush does a lot of weird things. The main thing that affected me when i had one was for some reason, i had the tendency to try and avoid them? Felt embarrassed to think about them at times, even though it was almost impossible to get my mind off of it. Very nervous about looking in their general direction even though it was alluring and made me happy. No clue how many others are like this and I really don't know the personality of your characters or if this is the type of answer you were looking for but either way, i hope it helps :)

Nerves are a major factor in this, also maybe a sort of giddy feeling
You’ll find yourself always looking for them in a crowd, when you hear their voice you’ll get a rush of happiness and feel really stupid about yourself
Talking to them will make you feel good, if you’re a girl you might feel the urge to tuck hair behind your ear a lot
Blushing and accelerated heart rate, eyes keep drifting to their lips, brain goes haywire when in a close proximity to them and you find tr hard to speak, you second guess everything you say to them

Also licking your lips a lot, wanting to impress, a little heart squeeze when you see them laughing with someone else

Also you’ll be thinking about them all the time, and it’ll give you this funny feeling in your tummy, sort of a squeezing heavy feeling, and it’ll feel like your heart is being gripped by someone’s fist

I agree with those above, having a crush made me want to avoid them so I wouldn't embarrass myself. There is a lot of fidgeting or holding yourself very still so you don't fidget. Cursing yourself when you say something stupid, or something that was supposed to be funny but wasn't.
It's mostly second-guessing yourself and trying to convince you and everyone around you that you don't like them like that. Thinking about them fondly with a warm feeling in your chest, then blinking and backtracking your thoughts quickly into "safe territory".

For me, having a crush was always a bit strange. I would have no problem talking to them, but if they were around I just wanted to stay quiet and listen to their voice. Sometimes I would do things to try and subtly impress them, even if they were simply in the same room as me. I would see how many goldfish crackers I could catch in my mouth in a row.
Generally, whenever I saw them, my brain would pause as if to say, "It's that person" I just wanted to be near them, see them.
