So I have my character, Granger. Granger's story is that his was raised privileged and rich, so it makes sense that he would be selfish, right? My original idea of him was a timid and sheepish boy and I feel like the selfish aspect of him is conflicting. I see the selfishness as being played off more whiney than anything, so I just wanted to see if his personality seems generally balanced. If you have any suggestions share that too, please!
A selfish spoiled rich kid is a bit stereo typical, I would say that he doesn't have to be selfish if you don't want. But from what you have he does seem balanced, and I think you could write it well, but make sure that he isn't always that "stereo typical rich kid"
I think that if he's shy/sheepish, you could downplay the selfishness. If he was raised to be selfish, it can be more of an ingrained philosophy–not blatant, just sort of there. This will make his other traits seem more important in comparison and thus help with the balance.
I hope that this helps you!! :DDD
I think instead of selfish, he could be more entitled. Like CinnamonRoll said, you could make it more of an ingrained philosophy. He could react poorly when he not put first but not super blatantly. Hope this helps!! :D
