Name: Scarlett Arielle Morales
Age: 15
Height: 5'4
Weight: 160 lbs.
Birth date: June 4, 2004.
Birthplace: Oregon.
Color hair: Fiery orange.
Color eyes: Laughing blue.
Scars or Handicaps (Physical, Mental, Emotional): Mentally, has ADHD Hyperactive, rarely takes medication. Physically, has so many scars from getting into so many crazy situations. Scarlett is a hardcore daredevil.
Other distinguishing traits (Smells, voice, skin, hair, etc.): Usually smells like sweat and roses. Has a middle-rang voice, so people really like to talk to her. Has orange freckles across shoulders and in a straight line down her back. Her hair’s always a poofy mess.
Educational background: Freshman.
Work experience: Currently a grocery bagger.
Military service: N/A.
Marital Status (Include reasons): Currently single. Has had three boyfriends, who she broke up with once they tried to get to first base : |
Best friend: Emma, her twin.
Men/women friends: She’s trying to become friends with Laura, but it’s not really working. Sort of friends with Alexa??? Cole’s nice, and Andrea is too.
Enemies (Include why): None, so far. Scarlett is more of a “live and let go” person.
Parents (Who? Where? Alive? Relationship?): Mom and dad, both alive and living in Oregon. Married, but not at a good point right now.
Present problem: Doesn’t have a filter, and doesn’t think before she acts. This is getting Scarlett into more and more hot water with teachers and people alike.
Greatest fear: Being left behind. it’s why she’s such a whirlwind of energy; if she disrupts the status quo, everyone will remember her.
How will problem get worse? Eventually gets severely hurt doing a trick and has to get taken to the hospital. When she comes back, everyone is convinced that she was faking being hurt (why? rumors spread from very familiar cliques)
Strongest character traits: Very optimistic, upbeat. Extremely protective of her twin. A cheerleader for everyone. Smart like her twin, figures things out by messing around with them.
Weakest character traits: Extremely reckless. Doesn’t think before saying things. Short temper. Has low self-esteem. Can switch moods in the blink of an eye.
Sees self as: Depends on the day. Sometimes, a cutie who is the sunshine to brighten up people’s days. Other day, she’s a tiny idiot who just annoys people.
Is seen by others as: Scarlett isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. She’s optimistic, but almost dangerously so for some people, and others think that her joy is just fake. So she’s either seen as a ray of sunshine that a person looks forward to, an emo trying to fake happiness, or at worst, an attention-grabbing idiot. Unfortunately, Scarlett usually doesn’t realize some people don’t want her around until it’s too late.
Sense of humor: She likes self-deprecating jokes the best.
Ambitions: Wants to keep all her Bs and Cs. School is somewhat hard for her, so it takes a lot of work keeping up her grades. Besides that, finding her role in life.
Philosophy of life (Include how it came to be): “Live life to the fullest, and the bad days won’t be so bad.” Having AHDH hyperactive, and not taking medication, means that Scarlett’s on constant highs and lows. She knows that’s why she’s so bouncy and reckless. But when she takes medication, that’s when the low days begin.
Hobbies: Parkour, fixing her mom’s car, chatting with friends, organizing parties, listening to music.
Preferred type of music, art, reading material: Likes Imagine Dragons and Halsey. Art is nice, Scarlett prefers more modern ones. Likes to read adventure and romance.
Dialog tag (Idioms used, speech traits, e.g. “you know”): Constantly goes on tangents. Snorts while laughing. Still has issues with picking up other people’s body language (like when they was to be done with a conversation).
Dress: EVERYTHING. Scarlett dresses however she wants; a gorgeous heel length dress one day, and a rocker get up the next.
Favorite colors: Bright orange and grey.
Pastimes: Making videos of her self doing parkour, daydreaming, hanging out with Emma, thinking of her new trick
Description of home (Physical and the “feel”): A small two story home. Scarlett’s parents sleep upstairs, at the far end of the hall. Scarlett and Emma have a room at the beginning of the hall. There’s a small kitchen/dining room (painted blue), living room (painted light yellow), and bathroom (painted red) on the first floor. The twins’ rooms (painted horizontally yellow and gray on Scarlett’s side, and sky blue on Emma’s side), their parents room (just grey), a bathroom (white), and a storage room (grey) reside on the second floor. Scarlett likes her house, but she always feels a little boxed in.
Most important thing to know about this character: She falls a lot, but she always gets back up. Always. With isn’t necessarily a good thing.
One-line characterization: ???
Key Questions: ???
What trait will make this character come alive, and why? I have not found a lot of ADHD characters where the story is explicitly about their ADHD. Worse yet, stories that I do find with characters with disabilities are usually “oh, woe is me!” Scarlett is the exact OPPOSITE of that. She knows she has ADHD, and takes it into stride. But is it the right stride? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Why is this character different from other similar characters? She’s reckless, and fearless, and doesn’t know when to stop. But she’s also confident.
Do I like/dislike this character, and why? I love Scarlett, I feel like she’s a more extroverted, reckless version of me.
Will readers like/dislike this character for the same reasons? I hope so.
Characters who are remembered are those who are strong in some way—saints, sinners or a combination. For what will this character be remembered? Scarlett will be remembered for her joy, and spreading it to everyone no matter what.
Wow, that took so much time, heh! But I actually learned something new about Scarlett, so yay!
