This is a really popular exercise for character development! Imagine a few of your characters are trapped in an elevator. What are there reactions like?

Hunter: calmly pushes the elevator call button and explains the situation
Alex: keeps checking his watch while irritatingly tapping his foot
Rebecca: criticizes the terrible elevator music
Zack: suggests playing truth or dare while they wait
Jade: waits patiently
Myth: completely freaks out

Legionnaire: Sits down to let Maelstrom do his thing
Polaris: Gets angry at the poor design of the elevator
Maelstrom: Punches the doors down(and the wall) and calmly walks out.

Gavin: teleports

Luca: calls for help
Bruno: freaks out and presses random buttons
Micah: tries to fix the elevator
Morgan: pulls out survival kit and just assumes they'll be there forever
Levi: sits in the corner and cries
Dylan: swears and kicks everything, eventually breaking his toe

Lucas: Tells himself not to freak out over and over again while freaking out, pacing, chewing his nails, and having panic attacks.
Garrett: Sits on the floor and listens to the elevator music.
Bennett: Rants about how he is going to be late which turns into him ranting about everything and anything in his life.
Orion: Pushes the call button before punching a wall and having a mental breakdown.

Nyir: sits calmly and waits for help
Tasper and Sacia: yelling at each other, arguing, trying to figure out the best plan of escape (Tasper: maybe we should just wait here! Sacia: and DIE? YOU IDIOT!)
Mitsig: laughing at Tasper and Sacia, unconcerned, totally forgot he could get them all out if he wanted to

(I suppose it's only fair that I do it too, right?)

Seraphine: calmly leans against the wall and shuffles through her paperwork, acting like everything will be fine, but is SC RE A M I NG on the inside : )
Alfonse: Talk to everyone!! What's your favorite colour?? Gotta make sure no one gets too nervous!! Morale is iMpOrTanT !! :DDD
Estelle: Yelling, screaming, shouting, hollering, bellowing, speaking at a loud volume. Yells at the buttons, yells at the doors, yells at the people, then takes out a flask of something strong, downs the whole thing in one gulp, and screams at the top of her lungs. :OOOO
Elias: Fidgeting, sweating, pushing up his glasses, checking his watch every two seconds, trying every button at least once a minute, slowly starting to hyperventilate o-O
Michelle: Tries the emergency phone. If it works, great! If not, chill to calmly sit down and take a rest while waiting it out. :)

Ace would flirt his way out
Farah would call her way out

I love this

Brielle would react calmly and collectedly,
Sprite would wait, grow bored and start doing handstands or something, maybe dance to the elevator music,
Andi would shout "GET ME THE HE** OUTTA HERE",
Evie would start having a small panic attack, barely move, and somehow assume that it was her fault the elevator broke in the first place.

THIS IS AMAZING

Ciarán: Taps his foot impatiently, criticises lift music, plays Truth or Dare, makes a billion paper aeroplanes, dances, bounces a football, flings himself against the walls- in the first five minutes
Fiona: Calmly pushes the call button, has a mental breakdown as realises she'll die with a bunch of eejits
Calum: Freaks out, punches the buttons, punches the lift, punches everyone, punches himself
Colin: Falls asleep out of boredom
Iain: Has a first aid kit and a computer, but is secretly figuring out the funeral expenses, wonders why the lift is so small and wonders why it has to end this way
Caitlin: Too busy scrolling through the Tumblr feed
Will: Has made a battle plan and knows who to give the smallest rations
Jamie: Anxiously peeking over Fiona's shoulder and saying, "Are we there yet?"
Aidan: Full-blown panic attack
Lleu: Calmly waits for help and eats everyone's cookies
Isla: Tells her life story
Henry: "I WANT TO SEE YOUR MANAGER!"
Iain: Target practice
Matti: Badmouths the call operator, proceeds to hit everyone over the head with his guitar
Leif: Snapping pictures and laughing at how stupid everyone looks
Tor: Tries to punch his way out, punches himself instead

Malthe: DANCE PARTY

Kaylee: Stares at the others hoping for someone to say something about her newly done hair.
Cameron: Continually tries to strike up a conversation with Carissa
Carissa: Acts interested in the situation but starts daydreaming
Jake: Pokes fun at every little thing that everyone does
Zaura: insults Jake every time he says anything
Michael: considers breaking out but is enjoying the situation too much.

oh boy, I really wanna try this. ok, here I go-

Vorex: silently panics, but pretends he doesn't care because he'S A TOUGH BOI
Apophis: is really confused and just sits by Vorex to wait for something to happen. he's 5, he doesn't understand.
(twin 1)Akito: screams occasionally, for fun. also to try to scare someone, but he won't tell you that-
(twin 2)Takeo: scolds Akito for screaming randomly, tries to actually calm everyone down, and generally hates his twin right now.
Carmen: military mom is actually getting help, because she's smart. also, she doesn't want to stay in here with these idiots-
Claudia: mutters to herself and internally panics. she also jumps every time Akito screams.
Tatius: just silently sits. in the corner. he doesn't care. he'll maybe try to calm everyone down though.
Death: squeals for no reason every now and then. he also keeps saying he'll be there for them if they die. not very reassuring.
Life: she wants to leave, and keeps threatening Death to not kill anyone. no more losing anyone tODAY!

Nikki - glaring at Jax while calmly explaining the situation via the emergency phone
Amaya - I mean making out is a great way to not freak out when you're claustrophobic as shit

Mine–the villain edition!!

Rey: Hits the door once. When it doesn't break, she just. glares at it. so much
Tara: Screaming, shouting, banging at the buttons and the doors, sO dOnE
Lilith: Probably holding Rey's hand and tugging her towards the corner because "no one is coming for a while…"
Enya: Cracks open the panel and starts trying to fix the lift.
Rubia: Sitting in a corner, probably about to cry, hands over her ears
Yvette: Roaring her rage into the emergency phone, not realizing that the people on the other end already hung up
Isabella: Slices open a hole in the top or bottom and does that epic climb-the-cables crap
Marina: Probably deciding that since she's going to die, she oughta go out with a bang, so which of these ladies does she want to bang?
Salina: Chillin with Enya, but rattling on about her problems and being VERY DISTRACTING
Percival: Pounding his head against the wall
Rex Apollo: Kind of wanting to grab Marina's butt but also kind of knowing that she would behead him and weighing his priorities
Nevir: In another corner, curled up and probably wheezing (the dork)

Hazel: Spams the buttons hoping one will finally work. If with Sam, she would likely end up hugging him for dear life.
Sam: Has to push Hazel's hands away from the buttons as he calls someone for help.
Callixto: His time period has no elevators "HOW DO THESE THINGS WORK? Oh no, did I BREAK IT?" QwQ
Lata: Creates small illusions to mess around with while she waits for the elevator to work again.
Iris: She would spam the button of the floor she wants to go to until getting bored with that. After, she'd just have to wait for help.

amelia: stands there for a little while in silence, occasionally pressing the button every now and then in a futile effort before cutting the roof open out of impatience and climbing out herself
blitz: thinks, 'this is normal', hums the crappy elevator music to himself for a little bit, would probably end up being the last person in the cramped space to realize something was wrong to which he would then take his frustrations out upon the emergency call button
benji: cries until someone else other than him resolves the situation. if alone, the red button would be his best friend

Fotia: Reassures everyone
Fortem: Facepalms over everyone's panic
Kyro, Fyllo, Eliza, and Cael: Scream unholily
Mizu: Stays calm
Slaise: Tries to break elevator door to help everyone

Luna: Panics
Gladion: Paces around, screaming
Lillie: Curses about everyone's stupidity
Hau: Screams… "YAY!"
Asno: Curiously looks around the elevator
Ace: Tries to think of a solution

Jonie would stare at the doors like they might disappear or open if she stared at them long enough, then when they don't, wish that she had something to do while she waits for help.

Andy would start trying to take deep breaths, which wouldn't work so he'd start hyperventilating and then pound on the doors, screaming, "Let me out! Somebody help! I'm stuck! PLEASE!" and after a while, either faint from dizziness and terror or curl up into a fetal position and murmur nonsense about never getting out.

Shona would try to get Andy under control by telling him things are going to be fine and then catch him when he stumbles and watch over him protectively when he passed out or whatever. She'd be too preoccupied making sure he stayed alive to do anything else.

Tom would start attacking the walls and trying to pry open the elevator doors with his bare hands, which wouldn't work, so he'd just start cursing and giving everyone the evil eye when they look at him.

Conner would start whining about being hungry and scared. When everyone looked at him disdainfully, he'd shut up, but then sit in the corner and moan about life like a useless lump.

Keegan: lays on the floor cuz they're the only ones in there and will be for a while and starts singing classic rock at the top of her lungs
Rory: complains the whole time and taps her foot annoyingly
Ell: lays down by Keegan and takes a nap cuz she only got three hours of sleep last night so she could finish her book
Marya: actually calls 911 because she's the only smart one in the group
