I'm trying to design a demon that embodies gluttony, but I'm bored of the classic demon look and I'd rather not go down the route most people go down when they think "gluttony".

Gluttony in this instance is impulsive over-consumption and excess of any kind, not just food. My character prefers feelings and experiences to materials and she isn't particularly selfish, she's just impulsive and lacks self control (which separates her from greed). She has an addictive personally and she prefers to indulge on whatever captivates her interest at any given time.

This character also plays on the idea that because gluttony can be boiled down to "excess of any kind" - it is capable of encompassing all other sins - which ultimately makes her a greater threat than one would usually expect from gluttony. Even so, the universe she is made for operates on the idea that both light and dark/chaos and order are two sides of the same coin. Both are necessary for balance, and neither one is "good or evil". She's not evil. She could fall anywhere along the "chaotic" alignment.

So besides humans, what plants and animals are there that embody gluttony in some way? What physical features do you think would suit her? I'm trying to design her physical appearance right now, but ideas of any kind are welcome!

@hopelessromantic

Don't make her fat. That's boring. That's sort of annoying too.

Is this in modern times? If it is, it'll be cool if you gave her dark undereye circles, you know, to represent gluttony of the internet? Staying up till 7 am watching youtube videos on the most random topics? Yeah, I just burned myself. sigh.
I think you can be super creative with this and show the results of gluttony on her depending on what she was indulging on. One day it could be internet binging, another day too much sugar and alcohol (so she'd be bloated), another day blah blah so on so forth etc. etc. etc. stuff.
Make her appearance change with her impulses.
Hope that helped!

Yeaaah, she's definitely not going to be fat! That's what I meant when I said I'd rather not go down the route most people think of, lol. A lot of her fixations aren't physical (like sugar) but I think I can still incorporate the idea of changing her looks depending on her fixation. As for whether or not the world is modern… Let's just say modern technology exists but this character is definitely not going to walk around in Ugg boots and she'll have no idea what you're talking about if you mention Starbucks or Tumblr. Her world is not our world.

Watch the Supernatural episode "My Bloody Valentine" That essentially summarizes what you're looking for.

Based on what I looked up about the episode, it doesn't seem to match anything I described about my character's personality so I'm not sure what you meant… As far as using it for appearance ideas, I don't watch Supernatural but I do know that it's not quite what I'm looking for, it's a little too normal for my purposes.

I should clarify, I'm looking for advice regarding my character's appearance and maybe her abilities. I'm going for something you might see in a high fantasy setting with lots of different races and creatures. My character is definitely not going to look like a human.

@M.W.Poel

This is an old question an you probably already figured it out but I'm going to answer anyway. Ahum….

Maybe proverbs related to gluttony can give you an idea of what you can do. For example, when someone devours a lot of food in a short amount of time we call them a pig. think about different situations and what animals (or plants?) you could draw a comparison with. That is if your intent on stepping away from the human concept.
Furthermore, try to find out how gluttony is typically represented and why then proceed to crush it by doing the opposite of the elements you dislike. Why does she overconsume everything? Is she just never satisfied and how would you portray that if they were a normal mortal being?
