I have a character with partial deafness in one ear from trauma. Does anyone have any advice for writing a character like that?

Hmmm………. idk really the character has to think someone says something else lots of time and of course people have to repeat a lot of stuff to them, and maybe because it was caused by trauma, when they hear certain words it triggers a flashback to the day/days they were in trauma/lost their hearing. I hope this helps and sorry if it doesn't I'm a bit new to writing :)
Going by my grandmother (who's really deaf at the moment but it started with just one ear) they wouldn't really notice anyone talking to them if it's on their deaf side. Also, if they have a hearing aid, they likely won't be able to hear anything either if multiple people are talking or music is playing at the same time. It will just become some sort of massy static screeching.
My grandma always just kind of sits there quietly in without really joining conversations at family parties because she can't hear a thing people are saying. Either that or she keeps talking. She'll also accidentally interrupt someone else talking simply because she didn't hear them speaking.
Don't know how the trauma would play into it though…
From a trauma stand point, a character may be very insecure about their partial deafness, especially if they have a visible hearing aid. They might try to cover it up with hair, beanies, you name it. That's all I have haha, I agree a lot with what @"M.W.Poel" wrote above me tho!
