I know it's kind of a weird question, but coming up with outfits for my characters is actually really hard for me. I honestly don't know why, but I've never been able to come up with any. The most creative thing I can come up with is jeans and a sweater or a hoodie (probably because that's what I wear most of the time). Thanks!

One thing I like to do is start up a game with some character customization (like The Sims, or Skyrim, or others depending on the style you're trying to match) and making a character that way. It's a lot easier to browse through a catalog of clothes and mix and match them than it is to conjure up a whole outfit from nothing, in my opinion.

If they've got a "random" button for outfits, hitting that a few times can give some combinations that you might not have thought of as well.

Try to incorporate their personalities into what they wear. For example, the boy wearing a t-shirt with Under Armour shorts, Converse, and wristbands is very different from the girl with a formal blouse, jeans, and ballet flats.

You can also take into account things like location, where they grew up, and (if applicable) things like fantasy elements (depending on what kind of story it is). For example:

Someone that grew up in a warmer climate is more likely to wear less clothing (shorts, skirts, tank tops, etc), or much more clothing if they go somewhere colder. The opposite is true for someone raised in a cold climate going somewhere warmer!

Also, are they active? Are they wealthy? Where do they tend to shop? Someone with more wealth is more likely to wear nicer quality clothing, and be up with trends, but someone with less means is not likely to be sporting a Prada bag. Someone more into sports is more likely to be in tennis shoes than heels.

I hope this helps! And these are generalizations, of course :)
