Hello. Because I am stressed, depressed (but still well dressed), and angry, I need some good words to cheer me up.

What are some of the best quotes/scenes from your characters? Can be anything funny, sad, or badass. I just need a pick-me-up, except with words. So tell me your favorite lines OR scenes from your own characters, the situation they're in, and why they're your favorite!

My favorite has got to be from my gal, Ashanti. She's facing her biggest enemy, Sliip, for the first time, and he challenges her to a show of power, which has never been refused. Here's how the scene goes:

"What's the price?" Ashanti inquired.

"I challenge you to a show of power." The man said, spreading his arms out. "The loser has to obey any rules the winner lays down. What do you say?"

The man held out his hand. Ashanti stared down at it, her arms still crossed. Then she looked back at the man and said, "No."

"Wh-What?"

"You heard me, I said no." Ashanti took a step away from the man. "Please leave me alone, now."

To me, this scene is so important in showing how strong Ashanti really is. She's not only mentally strong but physically strong, too. And to me, that is so important in a character like Ashanti.

I think the best scene I’ve written is actually a nightmare, intended to be tense but actually turning out kinda sad…. here goes…

My heart pounded in my chest as I watched them walk away from me, oblivious to my screaming presence behind them. The woman started to turn back to me, but she reconsidered at the last moment, turning back around, her hair swirling around her shoulders. The man by her side, tall and broad-shoulders, did not slow his pace as they turned the corner, disappearing out of my view behind a grimy brick wall and into the darkness beyond. . .
Desperately, I launched myself forwards, trying to follow them, knowing they were important but not knowing why. I was yanked back, my wrists throbbing painfully, my shoulders feeling as though they were being torn apart. The chains binding me to the doorway I was sheltered in were cold and unyielding, but, as I watched, they began to twist and writhe, turning dull green and scaly. The last thing I saw before everything went dark was the snakes lunging at my weak and helpless form as I sank to the ground, their fangs dripping with venom.

“Del, she’s texting me, what do I do!” amy (the most wonderful woman in the world) whispers, looking at her phone.
“Do I look like a romantic to you?” I ask, an edge in my voice, “Horatio, you’re the oldest, you give her advice!”
Teagan looks up at me and sighs.
“Tell him you like his hair,” she says.
“But I don’t!” amy (the most wonderful woman in the world) says, panic in her eyes.
“Tell him you like his face then!” I reply.

Later, crowded into the dining room, Fiona gingerly reached out to adjust the bloody bandages wound haphazardly around Iain's head. "What happened to you?" she asked, horrified. With the grave air of a wounded soldier, Iain replied, "Ah nothing, I just ran into your chandelier."

Moonlit Silver Knight

This takes place during a slave revolt(led by Siege) on a space ship(led by Cataclysm) Siege was just hit by a massive explosion and Cataclysm, assuming Siege is dead, turns to the rest of the slaves.
Cataclysm grinned at the slaves, they stood no chance, "If you want to surrender I might allo-URGH!" A large chunk of metal tore through his torso from behind. Turning around he saw Siege had survived and stabbed him in the back.
"What!? How the hell are you alive!?" Cataclysm shouted, collapsing to the ground
Tearing the metal out of the fallen captain, Siege responded grimmly, "I never learned to die."
"Nobody learns to die, but they still do it!"

i ended up really liking how i wrote this paragraph & the sort of mood it envoked for me

The thrum of war surged through his veins, its beat intoxicating. A primal instinct gripped his core; blood on fire, he was drunk on war and high on conflict. He placed himself in the middle with gusto, dancing around whirling blades while merging with the participants, a tango of footwork and a medley of metallic clashes. Pain and exhaustion were cast out by a soul thrumming in tune with its concept, the battlefield its home.

Erin and Ivy are in the Art Therapy Room, and Ivy is unloading all of her drama. Erin takes no shit.

"I’m gonna hit you with a bat that says ‘F.S.’" She deadpanned, eyes stuck to the 2007 Tiger Beat magazine.
"Why?"
"Because you’re Fucking Stupid and it’ll be on your forehead," she remarked, flipping a page.

Hana had had enough of Noriko and Finn's admittedly horrifying public displays of affection. She was certainly happy that the would-they won't-they part was over but she wasn't sure she liked this aspect of their relationship.
"Would you mind doing that somewhere else?" Hana asks in her usual timid voice.
Noriko and Finn postponed their smooching to glare at Hana as if she had just blown up a children's hospital. "Sorry if our love offends you Hana. But it's really none of your business." Before they could go back at it Hana snapped.
"I appreciate your affections for eachother Foriko but I'd rather not SEE your affections for eachother when I'm trying to fucking read! Now if you're going to act like dicks about it then you might as well dress like one, SO WHY DON'T YOU WRAP A FUCKING CONDOM AROUND YOU HEAD SO YOU CAN SUFFOCATE YOURSELVES TO DEATH SO NO-ONE HAS TO SEE YOU GAG ON EACHOTHER'S TONGUES!"
It was safe to say that they had certainly not seen it coming.

William lowered the cigarette slightly, its ashes landing on Joseph's long coat. He merely gave the German man a steely look as the cigarette was flicked out of William's hand by an unseen force. The still-burning end hit the metal roof once, bounced onto its other end and went sailing off the rooftop and down into the cistern before anything could be done by the man holding it only seconds previous. While he may have been a bit of an unobservant halfwit sometimes, William didn't miss how Joseph's eyes turned a lovely grey every time he used his strange Psychokinetic powers.

"What gave you those powers? Magic?" Joseph gave a rough bark of a laugh and crossed his arms over his chest, eyes trained on the land below the roof they sat on. His chapped lower lip was held between his teeth for a few seconds before he answered. The hesitation shown by the Canadian Sniper was something that only came around when he was discussing something that everyone knew was hard to explain, so how to word this specific explanation for Will's sake was a foreign challenge.

"Have…have you ever microwaved irradiated butter until it explodes in an 8 year old kid's brain, several times a day for a few months?"

"I don't know Danny, you're the one trying to liquify a plastic spoon with a cigarette lighter," Eve said shortly, head bobbing along the heavy bass booming in front of the alley.
"Oh, get fucked."

This is my favourite line that I’ve ever written ever. For some context, Dallas and Ara (Who's referred to as Dr. Azaryan in this bit) can read minds, and this is them meeting for the first time.

“ So clearly I’m a clueless idiot, but it really did never occur to me that Ara could be short for something. It never occured to me that it would be short for Arakel. But in my defense, I’ve never heard that name ever in my life, so how was I supposed to know? Like, what kind of a name is Ara anyways? Or Arakel, for that matter.
Dr. Azaryan takes a sip of his coffee. ‘You’ve got a lot of nerve asking that, considering your name is Dallas.’”

And here’s some more that I like:

‘Look,’ I respond, ‘Can I just ask you something about last night? That really happened right?’
‘Yeah, it did,’ Andor says, ‘Unfortunately. Now shut up, ok? I’m trying to sleep.’
‘You can actually sleep after what happened?”
‘No,’ he says, ‘That’s why I said I’m trying.’

“Are we allowed to be here?”
“It’s not really breaking and entering if we have a key, right,” Andor replies.
“Yeah,” I say, “I guess that’s true.”
“No,” Andor says, “I was asking you.”

It’s like we’re living in some sort of cliched horror movie. If we had a car right now, I’d bet all that I had that it wouldn’t start.

“But he’ll turn out ok,” he [Ara] says, “I did, you did.”
“Andor did,” Vivian adds.
“That’s highly debatable.”

"You think you can fend me off with a tiny thing like that? Fine. If it’s a fight you want, it’s a fight you’ll get. But, I’m warning you, you should have killed me when you had the chance." In turn, Oblivion took his twin weapons out of their sheaths. The two of them stood there for what seemed like ten minutes before Obsidian tried to go on the offensive. Each strike was well-mannered with perfect form, but no strike hit. For each swipe of his blade, his double blocked with ease. Is that the total of your skill level? How pathetic. I bet you never had to actually fight with that.

"You don’t have any proof. I wield my dagger fine."

"Yes, you have perfect technique and form, but you usually only have to deal one hit. I could tell with that poisoned dagger over there. You wielded that one better, but I'm sure you have never trained with that dagger in your hand right now." The other then went for the offensive and cut into Obsidian’s dominant hand. In pain, Obsidian dropped his second dagger. As he tried to pick it back up, the double moved his blade to Obsidian’s right jawbone. "I wouldn’t move if I were you. I know for a fact that this blade is sharp and I don’t feel like killing you today. How about you surrender?"

"I would rather die than surrender to you." Taking one of his unused throwing knives, Obsidian stabbed his double in the shin in a fluid motion. He didn’t stop driving it in until he heard the bone crack. At the same time, the double dropped to one knee, but not before scraping Obsidian’s neck. It seemed like a grand victory for Obsidian, but it didn’t last long for he was now unarmed. His double took this as an opportunity. He pinned both of Obsidian’s arms to the ground by driving his blades through Obsidian’s wrists.

"Wait there. I’ll be right back."

"It’s not like I can go anywhere."

"I know." He started to limp away, but stopped right next to Obsidian's poisoned dagger. "This has a nice design; I going to keep it after I kill you." He walked back over to where Obsidian was and stabbed him in the gut, twisting it before taking it back out. "If you didn’t know, this is how you are going to die. Your best friend will stab you and end your life. No one will remember you. You’ll be another black clan member that disappeared without a trace. No one will care, not even your partner. I know you don’t believe me, but it’s true. You will find out in a few more years that I didn’t lie." He was about to say more, but stopped when he saw that Obsidian’s eyes glass over. "See you in the next life."

@MarDeColores this is not it kids

“What just happened?” Marie’s eyes are wide.
“Um… the floor disappeared, as did the key, and there’s probably a huge monster down there that wants to kill us.” Ceder waves at the pit. “Oh, and I forgot. We’re stuck on a tiny circle of stone with nowhere to go.”
“Thank you, Ceder.”

“Okay. Follow me.” Endor turns and walks straight into a wall.

“I found something interesting! It totally looks like it could kill you! Is that what we’re going for? I thought it was. Right?”
“Yeah! Things that look like they could kill you are good!” I yell. “I never thought I would say that,”

“Okay, enough talk of murder.”
