@AustinOliver
Hi, I'm just looking if anyone is willing to give me a summary of what they think my character is like based off an interview I gave them. My intention is to see if I answered the questions properly to either give the personality of the character - or if applicable, represent the personality they merely wanted you to see. I have 6 characters, but would like to start with just one.
Her name is Amber Brosca. For anyone who has ever played Dragon Age: Origins, the character is intended to fit the Dwarf Commoner Origin, but I wanted to give a full personality to it.
1. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
a. Hah, that's an easy one. This fucking brand on my cheek. I can't stand that my entire life is defined by the fact that my mother was born into dust. The Stone rejects me purely because of my heritage, but no one stops to consider what skills and qualities I have as an individual. But you know what, maybe that is something I can change. Maybe not the brand itself, but I'll find a way to make people see past it - one way or another.
2. You lie on your back and stare at the ceiling. What images do you see in the rocks above?
a. I'm not much of a day dreamer. I'm a doer. What's the point in imagining what-if's? I could sit around all day and wonder how I could prove myself to be like that Paragon that was born casteless, but what does that do for me? What's the likelihood of me doing something that substantial while sitting on my ass? Hell, what are the chances even by doing something? I was born with a disadvantage.
3. Who is your worst enemy?
a. Who isn't at this point? My birth is considered an insult to the Stone. My mother is a drunk; she hates my guts and supports my sister using her legs as a way to advance the family out of Dust Town. Beraht is my boss, but he'd just as soon kill me and my family if it would make him a single more coin that keeping us alive would. I've got Rica and Leske, and that’s it. They're all I need.
4. What hobbies did you once have, but have since given up?
a. I was never allowed hobbies. Hobbies don't put food on the table. I learned to fight at a young age, but that's nothing to play about.
5. Open your kitchen cupboards. What do you see?
a. Is that some kind of joke? We're lucky to bring enough money to afford a meal a day, but to keep extra? Nice try.
6. What makes you embarrassed?
a. Embarrassed? I don't remember the last time I was embarrassed. I used to get embarrassed by how pitiful my mom was and how she let go of herself, but at this point, I couldn’t care less about her. Rica can make me embarrassed sometimes. She's the only one who sees what's on the inside, and even compliments it sometimes… I don't know what I'd do without my sister…
7. Have you ever deliberately set out to emotionally hurt someone?
a. I can't say I've ever deliberately tried to hurt someone "emotionally". Physically, sure. That's my job for the carta. Unless you count me making fun of Leske, but that's all fun and games in my opinion. Hell, for the most part, people's feelings don't even matter in my opinion. Emotions tend to be weakness. And in my life, weakness gets you left behind or killed.
8. Pick three adjectives that best describe your outer manner.
a. Three adjectives? Ok, let's start with assertive. I don't like following, I do my own thing. If Beraht didn't supply the only income I can come up with, I wouldn't listen to a damn word that sodding bastard said. Independent is a good one as well. I don't need anyone else. I don't want anyone else. I care deeply for my sister, Rica, and I'd do anything for her, but I don't even need her, to be perfectly honest. All my life, I've had to watch out for us. I'm the physical one. Leske is my partner, but honestly, he wouldn't be much without my help. Finally, I'll say direct. No bullshit. I prefer to cut straight to the point, serves pretty well as an enforcer too.
9. What would you like to see written on your tombstone?
a. My name. No, you heard that right. I'd just like to be remembered in the first place. Preferably for doing something that puts a finger to the Assembly, but just getting recognition would be a pretty big deal to begin with. Dusters never get proper burial, just thrown to the darkspawn. At least the heroes fight to their deaths, but we get dropped like a rock to the stone.
10. Do you prefer to adopt the latest technological conveniences, or do you prefer to rely on tried-and-true methods?
a. Conveniences are a luxury. You don't get conveniences growing up as dirt. Hell, tried-and-true usually implies that someone passed the knowledge down, and that almost never happens either. You fend for yourself or you die by yourself here.
11. When you interact with others in a social setting, what do you most crave, psychologically speaking? Companionship? Attention? Approval? How does this affect your behavior?
a. You know, I'd love all those things. Companionship beats loneliness every day. The only attention I get is unwelcomed and aggressive. And approval? The brand reeks cancels anything even remote to approval from anyone. It's not worth trying for. Relying on someone else is a good way to get let down - or worse, killed. Similarly, no attention at all means I'm less noticed and more welcome to take care of my own business. It shows pretty well in my behavior that I'm not looking for any friends.
12. Do you have any interest in the past -- history, archaeology, anthropology, and so on?
a. Only through trial and error. History, studying dead things, studying living things, what's the benefit? It always ends the same. The guy with the rich blood or the guy with the rich pocket always wins; and if he doesn't, the other guy turns up dead and he wins by default anyway. When you can live the story and see it unfold all the time anyway, there's no need to study the reason. It's pretty obvious that greed and power influence a lot.
