Is this kind of character over used? Werewolf, werecat etc… Are people tired of reading about this type or what? I know there was a HUGE boom in that type a year or so… I don't know if it is 'still in.'

I actually really like were-creatures, especially if they aren't just werewolves. I think as long as it is used correctly, it's an interesting idea

I agree. As long as the characters have their own individual personality, or you put your own spin on the were-people meaning, I think people will be interested. Just make sure that you don't fall into stereotypical plots or personalities.
