@Moriarty

Okay, so I'm not going to lie; I am absolutely infatuated with the Myers-Briggs personality types, and I always like to figure out which of the sixteen types each of my character's are. Am I the only one who does this, or are there other's out there? I'm an INFJ, and we're known for becoming very interested in the psychology of the Myers-Briggs type indicator, so I can't say I'm surprised at myself– but it has honestly really helped with character development as well. Determining your character's type can help you shape other aspects of their personalities as well, and I love it.

I know a lot of people here like to use it. I sometimes do, but with caution. For me, it's either a baseline, or something I use when I'm having trouble getting inside a character's head, but obviously, even if I have two characters of the same type, they're going to be completely different.

@Moriarty

Yeah, I agree about the two character's of a same type being completely different. I do the same thing, because I don't want to replicate characters. I have close to 100, although most of them are far from finished– so, needless to say, I have quite a few of each type, but no two are the same. Some of my characters of the same type honestly have very little in common, but the psychology of the MBTI has aided me, in some (many) respects, with developing my characters and making them stay true to their personalities.

@Becfromthedead group

Oh, dang. That's a lot of characters!
But yeah, it definitely helps you get in their head more, and that's probably the best thing about the typing.

@Moriarty

Ha, yes, well– I'm a bit obsessed with making characters and stories. I love to write, and I've just began writing what I hope will be the first book of a series (because all of my characters are in the same universe). I've had a bit of trouble getting started, but instead of writers block, I have the opposite problem: too many ideas converging together and overwhelming myself. But, I digress. XD

@Cookies group

I'd like to test all my characters, but let's be real, theres a lot of questions on those tests and I dont have a good attention span XD

@Moriarty

You really don't even have to test them to determine their type, honestly. I only take the test as the character sometimes, but usually I just do it this way:

Are they: Introverted or extroverted? Sensing or intuitive? Thinking or feeling? Perceiving or judging? And if I pick extroverted, intuitive, thinking, and perceiving then– well– I know that character is an ENTP. Some characters are a lot harder to pinpoint than this, and that's when I read up on all of the functions and whatnot– but I'm a crazy person obsessed with psychology, so I suppose it's a given that I throw myself wildly into the MBTI XD

@Yamatsu

I really enjoy looking into the MB types, especially when I found out I'm an INTJ. Using all of the little bullet points listed on the site really helps when building a character's personality and how they deal with certain situations.

@I_D_Triskele

I love MBTI types!! Most of my time spent on my characters are spent trying to hash out their personality. Fun fact: I have one character that is an INXX.

@I_D_Triskele

The first X means that I alternate between introvert and extrovert. The second means I alternate between thinker and feeler.

@Moriarty

I haven't written much of ENTJ, ESFJ, ESTJ, ISTJ, or ISFP. I've got characters of those types, just not ones that have been fleshed out to the fullness. I've only done a couple INFJs. Most of my characters end up being INFPs, ISTPs, INTPs, or INTJs– especially protagonists. I also feel like I have a lot of ENFPs, ESFPs, and ESTPs. I have a couple ENFJs, ISFJs, and ENTPs (my brother is this type, and let me just say– these guys are a lot of fun).

@Becfromthedead group

I ended up accidentally making my protag the same type as me- ISFP- so that was fun. But he’s more strongly P than I am, so that definitely changes things up. I haven’t thought too much about other characters yet. But honestly they seem disproportionately introverted so idk. However, just from personal experience, introverts seem to often band together.

All but maybe like 2 of my friends are introverts. We band together lol

@Moriarty

I'm one of the most introverted people I know, so I only have like one really close friend outside of my immediate family. X'D That said, this friend is also an introvert, so yeah– introverts band together. But I appreciate a good extrovert sometimes. (Especially you ENFP's and ENTP's out there in the world.)

@Yamatsu

Oh yeah, my character ends up being a much more exaggerated version of myself, which is great when I write him, but terrible as I realize what a dick I can be.

@Starfast group

I used to have all my characters MBTI types on their charahub profiles but now charahub shut down and I didn't write down any of that information rip :(
I seem to remember that none of my characters had the same type as me (I'm INFP). That seems pretty accurate since my characters seem to represent different sides of my own personality (not really something I did intentionally, but anyways). I don't remember any of their exact types, but most of them were introverts.

@squiddicus language

I recently took the test for each of my main 5: Ivy and Bella are ESTPs, Liv is ESTJ, Alice is INFJ and Isla is ISFJ. I'm also ISFJ, so I was actually really surprised when I found out Isla was the same as me.
