I have a character who suffers from both of these things, I was wondering if someone who does have anxiety or panic attacks could help me out?

@@Rubyjane

Ok, so, this is taken from his profile, does this seem consistent with having anxiety?
"He can come across as reckless and rash, but really he makes the decisions knowing the consequences, but he is willing to take the risk."

@HadesKidatHeart

That is a lot more calm and rationalized than anxiety. When you get a panic attack/have anxiety you think of horrible consequences and see nothing good, everything is moving too quickly to comprehend and you just feel overwhelmed. The reckless part is kind of true because eventually you can get to the point of being so done you just do whatever.
And a helpful thing to think about for creating a panic attack is look up heart attack symptoms, because that is what it feels like(I thought I was having a heart attack). So yeah, any questions.
(I have anxiety and panic attacks, so this is from my experience, and may be different for other people.)

Thank y'all so much for the help! So from what I seem to understand, is that the little thing from his profile could be true about him sometimes. But certainly not when he was having anxiety about it?

@HadesKidatHeart

Depends on the person, I think that is more specific to social anxiety, but I'm not quite sure. You could probably go with a lot of nervousness and discomfort and it would be pretty accurate.

And when it comes to panic attacks or anxiety attacks, (at least, this is how it is for me) it feels like the walls are closing in on your chest and throat. It feels like there are 20+ pounds on your chest, causing you to have little breath. You vision kinda swims and you can't really take in a whole lot. And, if it's really bad, the world around you kinda sounds dull like as if you're under water, you can't really comprehend anything that anyone's saying. After that passes, it feels like your knees could give out at any time and you never stop shaking.

Yes, I agree, I also have a lot of shaking(which is very unnerving) and sweating.

@LudibrousLainey

Occasionally I get really bad panic attacks (thankfully it's not every week anymore), and it's a lot like what @AnyoneAtAll and @HadesKidatHeart said: a lot of shaking, sweating, and breathing problems. Along with that, I can't have anyone touching me (which is bad when your mom is freaking out and trying to get you to calm down), because that makes it even harder. I start thrashing a lot too, if it's really bad. Also for a while afterwards (if it was a really bad one) I get super cold, and I can't function at all for a couple hours.

on meeting new people - I usually try to be as genuine as possible if im around my friends, but if im by myself, then i'm a very shy and awkward person. I always think that everyone remembers first impressions, so I try as hard as possible to make them like me but it kinda just ends up being be blabbering on about random details about my life that no one cares about…
