I'm writing a book about these 7 teenagers (15 to 18) in a futuristic kingdom, and each one has the ability to control one of the Seven Deadly Sins. They can make people feel said sin, and they would die in the matter of seconds to days. The seven teens are on their own and running from the king of the kingdom who is hunting them down because a prophecy foretold that the Seven Deaths would be the downfall of the kingdom he has built. I need help figuring out how to use certain sins with the character, like gluttony and sloth for example.

@Celia

I once had the exact same idea you had and I had a very similar problem. I eventually scraped the idea because I found something better, but these were how I portrayed my characters.
When it came to Wrath, who was among the easiest to write, i made him very brooding. I also made it so that the smallest of things ticked him off.
Lust was the second easiest to write and I made her extremely seductive, but not by her clothes. The way she talked and held herself made many people admire, respect and want her.
Sloth was the laziest person alive, but seeing as the character in your story is running away, laziness won’t do. Instead, i would make this character indifferent and also very sleepy.
Pride was your ordinary hotshot, with amazing looks and who always wanted to ask Lust out on a date.
Envy wasn’t jealous of other people. Rather, she made people jealous of her.
Gluttony was an eater. I mean, he always ate and he was also a good cook which made everyone else want to eat.
Greed was egotistical but also a little insane. Being the best and having the most meant everything to her.
Now, I don’t know if any of this is useful to what you’re writing about, but that was my ideas for the Sins. Good luck and I hope I helped!

Try playing around with how different sins can manifest in people. In a way, all of them have positive and negative qualities to them. For example, Sloth could be lazy and indifferent, but could also find simple solutions to problems or know when to hold back in situations where others might leap right into battle. Envy could be a jealous person but could also be highly motivated and work hard to achieve their goals. Just an idea that might be interesting to explore when developing these characters.

@RebeccArt

It sounds a lot like the og Netflix show Seven deadly Sins, you could try watching that and getting a bit of perspective.

I'm in marching band, and this year we did a show called seven deadly sins. You can really hear the different ones. You should listen to 7 deadly sins by gary p gilroy. It really expresses all of them. You could get some personality inspirations out of it.
Go Band! :D

@OnceUponADerp

Kaylee,
I am also in marching band and I had no idea there was such thing as seven deadly sins marching set. That's really bloody cool, and I need to look into it. Thank you for helping me with this!

@Skylar

@OnceUponADerp and @Kaylee yo my marching band nerds.

And when it comes to your question, you can portray the sins how you want. Ultimately, it is seen as more "normal" to have a person be more of one than another but it just depends. If i had to assign one to someone and it happened to be lazy, they could always just be lazy when they aren't actively trying to save their life perhaps or maybe they want to go to a charity event, they can still be lazy just not in that present moment. So it depends on when and where with the characters. You are the one writing it so I would just suggest trial and error. Write a couple paragraphs for the sins and with whatever way you like try to polish that.
