"C'mon, dude," Ben's cousin Faith whined at him. "Just do it, you could make some friends!"
Ben sighed dramatically and rolled his eyes. "Fine, if you leave me alone."
Faith grinned happily and handed the computer back to Ben, then patted his head and walked off.
Ben huffed and turned to the screen to see a forum called "The Depression Kids". There weren't any posts yet, but he could see at least three other members that had been added to it. He sat staring for a few minutes building up what to say.
Finally, he typed,

hello, i guess? this seems like an alcoholics anonymous group, geez.
anyways, hi, my name is ben. i'm 16. i…have borderline personality disorder and…depression.
uh, introduce yourselves?

and pressed post. He rolled his eyes again, shut the computer, and walked off.

Azami sat on the couch, looking at her laptop screen. She'd heard about this through a friend of a friend, and decided to give it a try. Maybe this could help.
She read Ben's introduction, and started to type one of her own. "Hey, I'm Azami. I don't know what to say, I'm not very interesting."
She pressed post, and waited for another reply.

@saor_illust school

hi im elara
i have friedrichs ataxia
which means im going to die within the next few years
i also want to die
but im scared of death
and i too have depression
along with anxiety

The first post she'd made in a strange new forum she'd been added to. While typing her introduction, she was yet again reminded of how soon her impending death was.

Azami sighed. Nobody else was bothering to use proper grammar, so why should she? Her fingers danced across the keyboard.
"nice to meet you guys. so, how did everybody find this?"

@saor_illust school

no idea
just kinda
was added to it

anyways
i guess it's back to being depressed about my impending death again

Elara sighed. Things were very different online, than it was in real life for her. Almost no one she knew knew about her depression or anxiety. She just didn't want to bother them even more than she was already, especially since they all knew about her illness…

The notification popped up while Melanie was lying on her bed, doing more spacing out than anything else. So that old dead chat was being resurrected now, huh? She paused, reading through the new posts with a critical eye. It didn't really seem worth it to join in, but at the same time, she had nothing better to do.
I'm M, she wrote, not yet willing to share her full name with a bunch of strangers. I've been part of this chat for a while, but it never took off so I kinda forgot about it. Welcome to the club, I guess.

@SpookyScarySnoteleks group

interesting, Azami wrote, this thing is pretty cool, i guess
With the laptop still open, she walked from her couch into her bedroom, stepping through the mess and flopping onto the bed. She looked around at the pictures on the walls. Pictures of Azami with her friends. With her brothers. The newspaper article about… what happened that day.

Later that night, watching YouTube, a thought suddenly entered Ben's mind. He wondered what had happened after he posted his message on that weird forum Faith had added him to.
He glanced at the clock. 3:12 AM. I guess I could check on it, no big deal, he thought to himself.
After reading the responses, he typed a reply.

my cousin added me to this thinking it might help me make some connections with people. bpd makes you solitary i guess.
i honestly dk what to say, but
i think the best thing to do here would probably be to try and idk
make a place where we can kinda comfort each other?
bond?
god fuck i sound so cheesy rn
ig since this is mostly anonymous, we can try and open up , like a virtual therapist or something.
dk about yall but ive never trusted therapists
just put a space between the e and the r and look at what youve got
t h e . r a p i s t
jesus im sorry. its late here but sleep is for the weak

Ben closed the tab and went back to his YouTube video.

Melanie read the latest posts dubiously, not sure how she felt about the idea of what basically amounted to group therapy. She had zero experience when it came to sharing her troubles with others….but the analytical side of her suggested that she could always quietly watch the others rather than participate very much, maybe learn about others in her situation and how they dealt with life. So she responded.
That sounds interesting. But how do we get started? Who goes first?

@ninj-is-by

Name: Azazel Goahd Deth
Age: 18
Why they're depressed: Tends to happen when no one in your world can die.
Universe: Death Hunters.

@ninj-is-by

Azazel looked at his computer, his girlfriend had been bothering him about meeting people for years.
"Eh. I guess it couldn't hurt."
He opened it reluctantly. "What is..this?"
He clicked a chat named, 'The Depressed Ones'
"Wow. Real funny."
As he scrolled through, he found that, he didn't know these people. "Strange.. I know everyone in my town.. and everywhere else is off limits… or really poor.. who are these people?"

Hi I guess? The Name's Azazel.
Um.. I have no clue who you guys are.. where exactly are you?

@saor_illust school

(yea you can join, just fill out the template from the first page)

ugh, therapists
never bothered to actually make an appointment with one
i mean, it's not like i'll have much time to be 'therapised' lol

sorry, i tend to make dark jokes a lot nowadays…

Elara laughed numbly at her joke, not really feeling anything. This tended to happen a lot, especially as of recently. She would suddenly lose the ability to feel, and she didn't know what to do about it, but she knew that her feelings would come back… eventually.

@saor_illust school

Realising she'd missed a post, Elara scrolled up a bit, and found one she'd missed, from a user who called themselves Azazel.

im from cali aswell

She didn't bother making her post neat at all this time. The lack of space between the last two words hadn't been exactly on purpose, more of a… typo that she didn't feel like correcting.

@Spider-man

Name: 30435 or Ava(birth names Sophia but she can’t say it.)
Age:15
Why they're depressed: Was outshined by her twin brother her entire life. Lives in a society where creativity and being different is frowned upon. She’s was trained to basically be a slave for two years and has thought of giving up too many times. She knows that she’ll probably never see her sort of kind of girlfriend again.
Universe: Utopia (it’s a placement name probably)
