Hex… is defeated…? Again… I guess? Hel is on the ground still wrapped in chains. “Can… y’all get me out? I met Houdini once and he didn’t tell me how to get of stuff like this.”
Hex… is defeated…? Again… I guess? Hel is on the ground still wrapped in chains. “Can… y’all get me out? I met Houdini once and he didn’t tell me how to get of stuff like this.”
(Yeah, I just used logic…)
He helped Hel out of the chains.
"Houdini was one of my friends."
"I know not of this 'Houdini'". Muses Azgoroth "If he is as skilled as you say perhaps I should study him".
Hel looks up in surprise. “Oh my gosh same! He was like, the only human ever to have legit ass magic! I was surprised. He’s such a funny guy, especially that time he locked me in a shark tank by accident and-
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR…
Hel looks over at Hex, who has been defeated times two, but literally cannot process when she’s too weak to fight. Hel stands up and holds a hand over Hex’s head. She closes her eyes and mutters a spell. Chains that were larger than before were summoned and bound Hex to the ground again. This time, Hel used Ancient Sigils, rather than the run of the mill Common Sigils to make them purely unbreakable. Hex says and does nothing except growl low and dangerous the entire time. Her head is bowed with her hair covering her face and her claws still twitch and clench, wanting to crush and destroy something.
Hel steps away without looking away from Hex and calls over her shoulder. “Okay! You can wake up now! I’m sure she can’t break out again.”
The black orb that had remained suspended in the air begins to glow once again. The colors it drips from its shine are unknown and incomprehensible. It seizes and glitches, trying to burst from its form with desperate passion. It releases a bright, blinding light, temporarily cancelling/ deleting/ ceasing the concept of vision all at once in the room to all occupants.
"Just like the beginning." He stated, remember the time before time
The light dims gently. All malice and death had been eliminated from the room. The horrific stains of rot that Hex had infected the room with have been completely diffused. And with it, any signs of comfort and peace. Any tranquility has also been claimed by the presence of this thing. This being.
It’s face was familiar, yet foreign. Eyes show an apathetic serenity. Too many eyes. Three line each cheek and hovers off it’s mouthless face with little interest. It’s head nearly touch the top of the roofless room. The threads that waved from its scalp held within them more optics, all wide and engorged on the view of the current occupants of the room. Beneath the beings waist, it’s hands were clasped in manner mimicking yet not conveying courtesy. The most absurd sight however, were the worms.
Skinny, pale parasites flow out from underneath it’s arms, all smiling and swaying in pure indifference. Peeking out from their origin, their bodies were tainted a dark red substance that drips from them. Neither the being nor the worms acknowledge this. It’s red eyes stare forward and above the group for a long time before finally offering its gaze to Hel. She offers friendly wave upwards to its face.
Hel turns around, faces the group and puts her hand out to gesture to the newly manifested being.
“So… here’s ‘Keziah.’ Don’t mind the worms, they do that. Like I said she’s big.”
The being formerly known as Keziah peers at Azgoroth, then Vozreal, then Kuu. It leans its head down until it’s essentially bowing. It lifts its head up and continues to stare at them. Hel gives a big gesture with her arms. “She says, ‘It’s nice to properly meet all of you!’ Don’t be shy, she’s still Keziah! I mean kind of. Technically not really. Actually, she never was ‘Keziah’ in the first place….’ Hel makes an awkward ace as realization dawns on her but remains her smile nonetheless. “Don’t think too hard about it! Just say hi!”
(OOC: so if that description made no sense, I drew what she looks like if it’ll be easier for y’all to get a grasp of what she looks like. It’s tough to describe and indescribable being lol)
"So, what's her actual name then?" Vozreal asked.
"Also, she big big!"
"The faithless one is reminiscent of some banished creature" Says Azgoroth "What would you think Kuu?"
"Hm". Kuu tilts her head "I'll have to agree with you Azgoroth".
Hel laughs heartily. The being remains silent. “Yeah, I guess you should know by now… her real name is-“
Hel’s voice is drowned out by a bell’s gong. It rings exactly four times and it emanates directly from the being as it stares at Hel. She looks slightly distressed.
“What? I mean, that’s kinda sudden to bring up. Wouldn’t you like for them to know your true identity? They’ve been calling the wrong name this whole time so-“
The being completely ignores Hel as a hand is released from its holding. The being does not move from its spot, but it’s arm stretches out through the group. It passes everyone and is going straight for Hex, who is still growling and snarling against the floor in chains.
“UHH, WAIT. Wait. Just a second, please?”
The hand stops right on top of Hex. The being fixes it’s gaze on Hel. A brutish intensity is present in its bright red eyes. “Can I… talk with her for a bit…? Just for a little…? It won’t be long, I promise…”
There is a suffocating, intense silence. The being’s eyes widen just a tad, it’s first expression of emotion since it’s arrival. It freezes and continues to look at Hel. She looks over at the group nervously and breathes in. “Uhhh… did I say something wrong again?”
(Wait, so is Hex back to what she was originally?)
"I suppose so" Says Kuu softly "The Faithless one does not seem pleased".
(Well, since Vozreal put virtuous people in her mouth for some reason along with the weed, it basically balanced out the effects of the weed because the victims fabricated serenity by the weed isn’t enough to drown out that there are more dead people inside of them. If that makes sense. The mechanations Of Hex and her Chasm are still wonky, I’m still figuring some stuff out.)
Hel puts her arms up defensively. “Listen man, she’s my sister and I’ll say when she has to leave. Not only that, but I’ve been getting the short end of the stick this entire time so, it would be nice if I could make my own decisions sometimes.” She looks back over to the being and her vision is immediately filled with red. It had lowered its head down all the way to Hel’s level and was staring directly at her with three of its six eyes. Hel jumps back in surprise and laughs nervously. “Woah! You scared me. But yeah, I just need to talk to her for a bit to-“
A loud, sharp ringing echoes harshly in the room. The eyes shiver violently as it glares at Hel. The ringing becomes higher and sharper as it’s form begins to quiver and seize aggressively. It’s gigantic form slowly dissolves and it’s colors shift vibrant in and out into an array of light. Hel backs up.
“Chill out! It’s only for a little while! I just need to ask her some questions since-“
The ringing becomes ferocious and it’s form only dissolves faster. The ringing begins to sound like screaming. Hel stomps her foot and yells at it.
“Could you just listen to me instead of overreact!?”
"PEACE" forcefully says Kuu raising her hands slightly towards the massive creature, the ringing slowly fades as if being slowly smothered by the overwhelming calm emanating from Kuu.
The being looks at Kuu with the same ferocity it gave to Hel, but only briefly. It's eyes, wide and bright, slowly ease and dim at the serenity she delivers. It feels the calm aura radiating from her and understands that it is being raucous. It straightens itself up, head brushing against the apex of this reality, and gently fizzles out like sea foam. The black bubbles drift to the bottom of the room and float carelessly together in chaotic order. They form a familiar shape of a bipedal creature wearing a familiar dress. All the bubbles pop simultaneous and a familiar face is standing their with her hands clasped beneath her waist once more.
Hel opens her arms again with glee. "Kez! You're back! Why did you decide to-"
Keziah holds her hand up to stop Hel from talking. Her eyes are closed shut and her mouth is in a deep, tight frown. She breathes in slowly and then…
Hel jumps back in surprise. "You know… like chat. Catch up on stuff and see how things are goin' and-"
"TALK!? TO THE BEAST!? ARE YOU AN IDIOT!?"
Keziah goes nearly berserk at Hel with rage. The lines on her eyes faze rapidly and split her eyes into eight halves with only six manifesting properly. Hel doesn't react to the deformities and puts her hands on her hips in defiance. "Listen! I can handle her! Look, she's bound and helpless, she can't fight anymore! I've been handling everything perfectly fine! Right guys?" She looks at the others with a big smile and a thumbs up. Behind her Keziah, fazes in and out of reality while her eyes glitch and leak an unknown color.
"Well, ah. No?" volunteers Azgoroth slowly "If Hex is as I have deduced her to be, then she isn't exactly one to 'talk' to".
Hel opens her mouth in shock and looks at Azgoroth with her hands open and her stance defensive. “Az?? What the hell!? You’re supposed to back me up!” Keziah sighs and shakes her head.
“Obviously, you don’t know how much damage the Beast has done despite being viscerally involved in its carnage. You were inside it’s throat for Pete’s sake.”
Hel points a finger at her with indignation and her eyes narrow in anger. “Firstly, don’t bring Pete into this and secondly, the throat thing wasn’t as bad as the bugs in the gut thing.” She slowly looks over at Azgoroth with a major stink eye, but Keziah merely scowls.
“If you aren’t going to take this seriously, then I will.” She shoves Hel out of the way and walks towards Hex’s prone figure with brisk step. Hel grabs her arm harshly and yanks her backwards. “Don’t you dare-
The voice comes out inhuman and inorganic, like the screeching sound of nails on chalkboard or clay bowls smashing together.
“THIS BEAST HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT A PEST TO US AND YOU WANT TO OFFER IT SOME SEMBLANCE OF MORALITY!? HOW DARE YOU TRY TO SYMPATHIZE WITH THIS FOUL CREATURE JUST BECAUSE IT WEARS YOUR SISTER’S SKIN!! YOU WANT TO GIVE IT A CHANCE!? IT KILLED US AND YOU WANT TO GIVE IT A CHANCE!? YOU ABSOLUTE FOOL!!”
Hel remains completely quiet during the rant. Her face is completely neutral but slightly tinged by a bent brow and a soft frown. Keziah has grown to doubled Hel’s height and is looking down at her with claws large enough to rival Hex’s and eyes dripping with blood and malice. Hel slowly lifts her hands and cups Keziah’s face. Her fingers and palms burn and sear from the glitched madness, but she takes her cheeks anyway. She strokes a thumb along a bloodied tear, smearing it on her fur. Keziah freezes, startled by the gesture.
“I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…. please…. just one question. I’m sorry…”
Hel speaks soft and weak. Like an old woman. Keziah blinks quietly at her. Her eyes close and she shrinks back to normal height, slightly shorter than Hel. With her eyes still, she breathes softly and speaks briefly.
“Just one.”
Hel, although getting the answer she wanted, only nods with her small frown and hugs Keziah close. She freezes in shock and her eyes spring from her face again. She regains her form and simply has wide eyes and an open mouth while Hel holds her tightly.
She doesn’t hug her back.
Hel let’s go, squeezes Keziah’s shoulders affectionately, and turns towards Hex, she had remained silent and unmoving the whole time. She walks towards her with no hesitation except to look at the group. “Can you all stand back? I just wanna make sure you guys are safe when I ask Hex. Okay? I’ll be okay I promise.”
"Of course" says Azgoroth sliding backwards, Kuu following suite by stepping backwards soon after.
He did what she asked
Hel grins wearily at the group. Keziah stands with them while she worriedly bites at her fingers. Hel walks towards Hex confidently and without any hesitation. She bends down and gingerly taps her sisters head.
“Hey. You up?”
At first, there’s no response. Then Hex silently and deliberately brings herself to her knees but with her head still bowed and covered by her hair. Even with her slouched position, she towers over kneeling Hel. She stays quiet as Hel talks.
“Do you mind, before we take you home… if I could ask you a question.”
…
“What do I owe you?”
Again, there is no response. Until Hex tilts her head, jingling her chains and causing a strip of hair to go askew and reveal her eyes. Blank and white, yet filled with contempt.
What.
Hel breathes in and speaks again.
“You said I owe you something. What is it?”
Hex stares at her with wide and ferocious eyes. Then, ever so softly yet with scalding, blistering fire, she whispers to Hel.
How dare you.
You have the gall, the audacity to come to me with a question when I should be asking you one.
Hel narrows her eyes.
“I don’t understand…”
Hex leans down and comes face to face with her sister and hushes out through her teeth.
I took so much from you. More than any being could possibly bear. Your beloveds. Your skin. Your child. Mother. Convent. People. Guardians. Everything. I ripped it all out from beneath your sternum and crushed it and devoured it like livestock. I hate everything about you. So why.
“…”
Why do you love me. Why do you not hate me. She bares her teeth and widens her eyes. Out of all that I’ve taken from you, I don’t have your hate.
Hel looks up at her with an unreadable expression, unsure of how to respond.
Meanwhile Keziah had bitten every finger raw and bleeding and hurriedly whispers to Azgoroth, Kuu, and Vozreal.
“Sh- should I intervene? I-I don’t like how this is turning out…”
Don't." he said coolly
"Leave them" Says Azgoroth quietly, staring intently at the pair.
(Sorry about the lack of response. Very critical events happened. I'm sorry.)
Keziah nervously rubs her hands together as she witnesses the scene.
Hel looks up to her sister only slightly startled. Hex stares back with so much bloodlust, it could be felt from a mile away.
Hel relaxes her shoulders and lets out a short puff of a laugh. "Well, ain't it obvious? We're sisters. Mom always said that sisters gotta love each other no matter what. We gotta stick together." She says all this with a light and tired smile. Hex responds negatively. Her hair raises and her eyes brighten. The sharp threads strike for Hel's throat. Keziah gasps and lunges forward to stop her only to see that the hairs did not sever or pierce Hel at all. They merely float over her jugular with the intent to tear it open, but do not do so.
You are repulsive. I cannot fathom a creature with a mind like yours. One so disgusting and immoral as to express such pure filth to a being such as I. To admit and convey your obscene grime to your hunter, your predator, and your death. You are more abominable than That One. She does not look at her, but Keziah tightens her fists anyway.
All that fall into my Chasm must remain. That is a law not to be soiled or defied. But That One. It refused to rot, or scream, or decay, or even die. It crawled out. Like a pathetic worm. Hex leans in close to Hel and hisses something to her. It could not be heard, but Hel understood.
Hel's face doesn't change. Although her smile is less apparent, she does not react poorly to such cruel words. Instead she leans back and looks up at Hex with curiosity glinting in her eyes.
"Do you remember our nicknames?"
Hex rears back.
Keziah blinks rapidly.
Both are stunned.
What./ "What."
Hel cracks a smile. "Our nicknames. The ones mom gave us. Do you remember them?"
They both are in a stunned silence and remain completely still.
"Come on! It's not that weird of a question! Hey guys!" She looks over at Azgoroth, Kuu, and Vozreal. "Haven't you guys had nicknames from your family? It's common, right?"
(I'm not thinking 100% straight rn. Stuff is getting really intense. I'm sorry if my responses will be delayed in the future.)
"brother called me Vozzie…"
