"I'm coming with you." She grabbed the tentacles.
"I'm coming with you." She grabbed the tentacles.
And the tentacles burned her, for she was not the one they wanted
She snatched her hands back and grabbed his wrists instead. "If I can't come with you, where do I find Sindy?"
"In this town… Somewhere near the bar." And then he was gone.
Tears dripped from her eyes.
It was like losing Seven all over again.
Breathe, Nyx. Breathe.
Blue hair and a cloudless sky, green eyes, red blood.
I love -
No.
Don't think about Seven.
Don't think about that.
Wiping the tears from her eyes, she let determination fill her bones and venom fill her spurs. She wasn't going to lose someone else. And in order not to lose someone, she had to call on someone she knew would understand.
In her room, in a small hidden compartment, she pulled out an old flip phone and called a number. It rang once, twice. There was a click, a hum, silence. And a voice.
"Hey, Nyx."
Nyx swallowed back tears. "Phoenix?"
"Yeah? Nyx, what's wrong? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." No, I'm not. "I need your help."
Nyx gave Phoenix instructions, put on a sweatshirt and combat boots, and proceeded to wait. Phoenix, with her connections, said she could be here in fifteen minutes. Flying at the speed of sound certainly had its benefits.
And then, finally, she arrived.
Nyx told her the story through teary eyes and a shaking mouth.
And then they proceeded to head out into the cold March night, seeking the bar.
Sindy was blonde, with blue tip style in a ponytail. SHe had freckles and stars on her cheeks, and had red and yellow eyes.
She was drinking it up
Nyx, having asked the others in the bar, made a beeline straight for her, dragging Phoenix along by the hand. Phoenix was in a battlesuit, pistol hanging at her waist, and she'd brought the same outfit for Nyx too. The two of them looked - there was no other word for it - dangerous.
"Are you Sindy?" Nyx asked. "We need your help."
"Yes I am!! What do you two gals need?" Sindy replied with a southern accent
"Vozreal's been taken to Tartarus," Nyx said simply. "And we need to get him out."
"Vozreal, aye? Well, you just so happen to be in front of a good friend and fellow escapist of Vozreal Rafter himself!"
"Storytelling can come later," Phoenix said stiffly. "We need to get him out."
"Oh, right! I nearly lost me train of thought!" She got up. She was only 4'0" tall.
Phoenix, at 5'9", was surprised and stepped back, but Nyx, who was used to talking to people two feet taller than she was, didn't budge.
"Can you help us?" she asked.
"Indeedy, I can!" She said.
"Where's his house?"
"This way." They led her there.
"Alrighty then buckaroo!" She said, following them
They went into the house.
"First, we'll need to find a portal to Tartarus…"
"And where can we find that?" Nyx asked, ignoring that Phoenix was muttering something about "Mark's closet being a portal to Tartarus" behind her.
"We can also make it. Where's his frickin' spellbooks at?"
"This way." Nyx led them to his hiding room.
She found the book she was looking for in seconds.
"Right, let's do this," Nyx said.
"Can you sacrifice an eyeball?" She asked
"Already did." Nyx grinned. "I can go find another one, if you want."
