Clotho sat quietly on the park bench while her sisters argued.
"I'm sure this is where we were supposed to be!" Lachesis said angrily.
Atropos banged her fist down onto the table. "No! You overshot by a lot! You never get anything right! Hera said she'd reward us! This isn't Earth! This is somewhere completely different! If we don't find Zeus's lover and kill her by the end of the day, we'll be killed!"
Lachesis raised an elegant eyebrow. "They have never been able to kill us before. How will they now?"
Clotho spoke up. "Um, guys…"
Her sisters turned to her immediately. Clotho rarely spoke, and when she did, it was a good idea to listen.
"We are on Earth…" She pointed to a bunch of mortals milling around, minding their own business.
"What is it, Abbie? I swear, you never stop talking." Xiomara sighs, walking with her friend to the park.
"Well…I think Tyler noticed me!" Abbie squealed, her grin only widening.
"Jesus Abs, you are too nice and innocent for crushes and boyfriends."
"Am not!" Abbie pouted in a way that made her only more cute than upset.
"Adorable, too." Xiomara gave Abbie a sly smile while Abbie huffed, folding her arms across her chest the whole way to the park.
Atropos raised an eyebrow at the two. "This is what mortals talk about for fun? Wow. Remind me why we let any of Aphrodite's lovers live?"
Lachesis rolled her golden eyes. "Because they were so cute together! Come on, you have to admit that!"
Atropos sighed. "No, they weren't. Love is stupid."
"No it's not!" Lachesis gasped.
Xiomara, only hearing the last bit of their conversation, nodded towards Atropos. "The feeling's mutual. Love is stupid."
"That's because you haven't had any boyfriends!" Abbie remarked.
"That's because I don't care for boyfriends."
Atropos snarled at being spoken to by a puny mortal, and Clotho lay a calming hand on her arm. "Calm down, sister. If they find out who we are, they won't be happy."
Lachesis heard and snorted. "Mortals are never happy about what we do," she whispered. "I mean, we control their destiny, so none of them like us."
Atropos rolled her eyes. "Fine. I'll try to be civil."
"Mortals?"
Locux overheard the conversation and approched Lachesis
Whispering "I take you are not human then"
Atropos glared at her sister. "Nice going, sister."
"So what are you?"
Locux looked at the familiars with curiousity
"We're… um… practicing for a play!" Lachesis said quickly. "We were just practicing our lines. Right, guys?"
"Your friend here, already made that excuse not plausible" Locux pointed to Atropos with a smirk
Lachesis glared at Atropos. Atropos in turn glared at the mortal. "Why does it matter? You don't see me picking into your business, do you?"
"Maybe not my business but my destiny that's certainly something you claim to control"
Locux glared at Atropos in a defying way
Atropos looked down her nose at the puny mortal. "Quiet, mortal. I could kill you with a blink of an eye. Know your place."
Clotho, who had been watching, placed a hand on her sister's arm. "It does no harm for the mortal to know," she said in a quiet voice. She turned to the mortal. "We will tell you, but you must swear on the river Styx that you will tell no one."
"Not a single word of this will come out of my mouth, unless I say it to you"
He made a vow towards the sisters
Atropos snorted. "He didn't swear on the river Styx. He really wants to know and be able to tell everyone."
Clotho sighed. She looked at the mortal. "I hope you don't mind, it's just that if you swear on the river Styx, it will ensure that you don't go back on your promise. It's just a precaution, because otherwise we can't trust anyone." She looked apologetically at him.
"I completely understand. I swear on the river Styx, that not a single word of this will come out of my mouth, unless I say it to you"
He emphasised On the River Styx while looking at Atropos
Atropos looked away and muttered something about freaks and stupid self styled mortals. Lachesis was ignoring Atropos and focusing on some guy in the distance.
Clotho smiled gently at the mortal. "You know Greek Mythology? Who are three beings that even the gods fear? Do you know?"
"My Greek mythology is a little bit rusty, but I'm pretty sure Hera's Wrath is one of them"
Locux thoughtfully massaged his chin
Lachesis laughed. "He thinks we're Hera's Wrath? How pathetic does he think we are?"
Clotho sent her a warning look. She would have to talk with both of them later. She turned back to the mortal. "No, but good guess. There are only three beings that every single being in the universe fears: the Three Fates. We control everyone's destiny, and can kill or hurt anyone."
"Or make them fall in love," Lachesis said, eyes twinkling.
"And may I ask what are three beings capable of changing anyone's fate on a planet such like this one?"
Locux glared at Lachesis, irritated by her laugh
"She already said it: the Three Fates. How dumb are you, mortal?" Atropos asked mockingly.
Clotho glared at her. "Κλείστε το," she told her sister.

Cat wandered into the park, her gray and white cat Plag, curled in the hood of her tye-dye sweatshirt. She noticed the people standing around talking and decided to keep walking. Her long black hair draping over her hood, hiding the small cat.
"You could talk to them you know," he yawned from her hood.
"No, I think I would prefer stay away from strangers," Cat sighed, her light blue eyes glancing back at the people sadly. "After yesterday I might not talk to another human."
She settled on a bench where she could still see the people, but she was a good distance away.
