Wow I'm waiting. I've been roleplaying for five or six years (and I'm young, so that's more than a quarter of my life btw), and I've made plenty of characters and many, many flaws. I can guide you through with a few laughs, and little frustration! Allow Fork Satan Mother to guide you through the warm place of RP!!
I'm doing the fantasy RP in the beginner's lounge, and I had a question about one aspect of my character. He has magical abilities, but when I was trying to figure out exactly what magical abilities to give him, I wasn't sure if I should make him really OP? I ended up giving him a somewhat useful ability, but I'm still not sure if he's too powerful. Help would be appreciated :)
Okay, so may I ask if you've distinguished what power you're going to give him? That would help a lot. ^D^
Of course, I'll be happy to help you, too.
He can induce dizziness/vertigo in others. I feel like maybe I should add some limitations to his power somehow? idk
Well, maybe you should try and influence it with another power. I, myself, would ask if he can do it by himself after a while, and if it would make sense. And in your case, enough practice would allow him to be able to (almost, maybe have him make the occasional mistake) perform his magic perfectly.
Okay, I threw two things on at once, sorry. I would personally make another power to help support the weaker power, which in this case is vertigo. So maybe someone breaks out in warts too, if he wanted. Then I would ask myself how long would it take for him to master these powers, and THEN would he only be able to use them fluently, if at all.
Okay, so what I'm hearing is: he's working on mastering the power, but he still screws up sometimes and it doesn't always work how he wants. Thanks that's good I'm going to use that.
You're welcome! That's generally what I do, even with my older characters with higher power levels. Just ask if you need more help! ^D^
