You may have noticed a feature that launched the other day that let you turn on (or off!) page types of your choice. This means, for example, if you don't use Magic in your worlds, you can turn off the Magic page type and not be bothered by it existing.
The real motivator behind building this feature is the freedom to create very specific page types for everyone that I hope will help with even the most specific of worlds, while not bogging down or getting in the way of anyone not using those page types. For example, roleplayers have repeatedly asked for a Class/Profession page type that may not be often used in e.g. writing (but also might!), sci-fi authors have often asked for a Technology page, romance authors have asked for Love Triangle pages, and so on. Being able to pick and choose what kinds of pages you want is a big step forward in customizing your notebook to your world, instead of having to try to fit your world into a generic notebook.
To test out this new system, there are three new page types being released today that will expand on the more generic Location page type we currently have. Worldbuilders with a premium subscription will now be able to create Towns, Countries, and Landmarks like any other page. You'll be able to add additional fields to them, share them, and link them from your universes/profiles, and you'll find writing prompts for them on your dashboard just like for every other page in your notebook.
More page types will follow. If you've got page types you're itching to plan, you can submit a request for them with this form.
O OO OO OOOOO I'm so happy with this update!! Thank you so much! ;o; I stopped using Locations when I realized there was no way to really connect towns/cities to countries unless I specifically say 'a town in ___ country' So the Towns and Countries pages is really helpful!! Thank you for this update, keep up the good work! <3
@andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer) while I understand that people who aren't premium supporters shouldn't get all of the extras premium supporters do, I think it would be cool if people with basic accounts could have a maximum of four page types and if they turn off one type they are able to turn on another page of any type, maybe not but just a thought.
Maybe give one or two free sample pages on everything so people can get a taste of the whole thing.
Question: and im sorry if this isn't the place for it. But in locations it allows the option to put cities in but why will it not allow Towns in the drop down menu?
@RogueGhost It's probably because that dropdown was implemented before towns/countries were made as a page type, and it just hasn't been updated from using Location pages to Town pages yet.
@bootslots is correct, but Towns are getting added as an option this weekend (among many more changes going out). :)
I've upgraded to premium, but still only have the 4 pages (universe, characters, locations, items). How to I get the rest of them??
@Hillary: You can click "Customize pages" in your sidebar, "Enable premium pages" on the billing page, or go directly to: https://www.notebook.ai/customization/content_types
From there, you can turn on/off any pages you do or don't want to use. :)
I have 2 very different universes, and one needs fewer pages than the other but in order to switch between them I have to turn pages on and off because I don't want to over clutter one of my universes with pages I don't need. Is there any way you guys in the magical programming studio could add a feature to turn pages on or off for one specific universe and not have it affect the other. I would seriously appreciate it.
This will be good for everyone even the free users because they can see what the site offers or opt to ask for help with things.
