Hi all!
I've been hard at work on new ways to categorize and organize our ever-growing notebooks. One feature that has been suggested numerous times is the ability to tag pages. For example, tagging some characters as "Main character" and others as "Background character".
Good news: you can do that now. Here's how it works:
When creating or editing any page, you will now see a new field called "Tags". This is a special field that can't be deleted (like the name and universe fields), but you can still hide or reorder it in the template editor if you'd like. In this field, you can type any tag you want, or simply click on a suggested one to have it automatically added. Any tags you've used previously will also autocomplete for you when you start typing.
You can also click on your own tags (like "Main characters") to see a list of all your pages tagged that way (so, seeing all your main characters). Once you start adding tags, you'll notice a filter bar automatically appearing at the top of your page listings that lets you jump to a particular tag.
You can also jump back to the default see-everything lists at any time.
A few nitty-gritties:
- Tags are available to all users.
- There's no limit on the number of tags you can have.
- Tags are specific to each type of page: Characters have their own tags, Locations have their own tags, etc. This prevents cluttering up each type of page with tags from other page types. You're welcome to add the same tag (e.g. "Favorite") to multiple pages and use them just fine.
This feature has been a long time coming so I hope everyone enjoys it. As always, please let me know if you see any potential issues or if anything looks wonky, or if you just have suggestions on how to make it better (yes, filtering by more than one tag at a time is something I want to do next, too!), I'd love to hear those also. :)
Happy worldbuilding, all!
