Tek Information
by @Mojack

**TEK BASIS**

Advanced, technologically reliant species. Did not originate from Earth. True origins unknown.

Most Tek stand on two legs, appearing slightly digitigrade. A great majority of their body looks to be mechanical; varying from the 65-95% percentages, depending on the individual. No juvenile Tek has ever been spotted.

*Most Tek are also tailless.

Tek wear a great many mechanical components. Some of their clothing is made of loose cloth hung around the waist or chest; some designs are in similar fashion to what one might expect from an important figure, which matches up with what is known about the Tek, as some of their kind is seen as more important than others.

While not wearing as much clothing as humans (generally; some Tek might wear more) Tek are not as prone to dying to gunshot wounds or stabs as we are.

They are known to biologically engineer themselves in addition to mechanical manipulation.

No Tek has been captured alive. The reason lies in their mechanical modifications that the Tek can manually activate a kill switch for themselves if they are in a situation that they won’t get out of. This also essentially fries all of their mechanics in the process.

Average height of a Tek is 7’4” ft.

**KNOWN VARIANTS**

***Overseer***

*Do not face alone. Report if you spot one.*

*High danger level.*

Overseers are more heavily armoured than some of their counterparts. They also make use of Aithrel, using it to levitate themselves around. They are seen to be slower just on plain foot, perhaps the armour weighs them down. They are rarely alone, tending to accompany themselves with a great many lower class Tek. They are known to call for reinforcements. They are around the same size as an average Tek.

***Stalker***

*If you feel like you’re being watched, report it.*

*High danger level.*

Stalkers are often alone or at the most in groups of three within a single area. They have the ability to cloak themselves in invisibility. An Aithrel powered EMP can usually solve that problem, or just in general any Aithrel charged attack. Additionally, destroying their stealth field generator assuming you can identify it is a fair strategy. Thankfully, they are rare, but still the subjects of a great many horror stories. They appear to be biologically manipulated, with longer limbs and torsos so that they can move around with ease on all fours.

***Guardian***

*You’re likely to find one if you go snooping where the Tek don’t want you to.*

*High danger level.*

Guardians are usually found in pairs, sometimes more on occasion. They are almost never alone. They are heavily armoured; unlike the Overseers, they do not levitate *(why is this? more biological engineering? Special training?)*. They guard high value targets (ranging from buildings to individuals). Guardians tend to be on the taller, bulkier side of things. They also wield massive swords fused with Aithrel. Slightly taller than avg. Tek.

***Howler***

*Take them out first.*

*Medium danger level.*

Howlers can on occasion be alone, but if you get spotted by one, it won’t be for long. They are a smaller than average Tek, whose danger level comes not from that, but from their ability to send out a call to all nearby Tek if enemies are spotted. If not alone, they are posted as lookouts on the outskirts of Tek patrols and camps. Very heavily mechanically modified.

***Scout***

*Rare for the Tek, this one would rather flee than engage.*

*Low danger level.*

Not to be underestimated despite their low danger level. Smaller in size, more quadrupedal than bipedal. Bioengineered. Have the small formation of a tail. Very fast, usually work alone. Typically not as mechanical as other Tek. As their name suggests, work as scouts — if sighted, best to get rid of it, preferably undetected or from a distance lest it flee.

***Soldier***

*Common Tek. Can come in a few variants.*

*Medium danger level.*

Soldiers are average in size for Tek. They can come in a few variants, from a melee to ranged focus. The most common soldier variants are the rifle carriers, who hit from a distance, utilizing trench warfare to hide away and shoot. The melee variants are usually situated in larger squadrons, or attack when guard is low. They are not to be underestimated as they may sneak into a human controlled trench to attack.

***Scientist***

*Not spotted on active battlefields, usually. Heavily escorted.*

*Low danger level by themselves, medium-high due to their escorts.*

Scientists, or researcher Tek have been spotted on areas of former or inactive battle, often collecting corpses or prisoners for experimentation. While they appear not to do much fighting themselves, their escorts, which often consist of guardians and more advanced soldier variants, are more than willing to engage if threatened. Scientists will still attack if cornered, and would prefer death to capture as most Tek do.

***Apostle***

*DO NOT APPROACH. DO NOT APPROACH.*

*High danger level. Thankfully rare.*

Apostles are rare enough, but on the occasion that they make an appearance, one thing is certain — the battle has shifted in favour of the Tek. They can be spotted alone or in groups; Apostles are similar to Overseers in the aspect that they can levitate, and have a heavy reliance on Aithrel. The difference being they are not afraid to go alone, and out of all Tek, their control with the Aithrel is one of the most advanced. Unlike all Tek, while they do wear a mask, it is completely featureless, eyeholes included. Their control on Aithrel is good enough that they can stop bullets and other projectiles and either destroy them or send them back, and it’s even rumoured that the most skilled Apostles can manipulate the Aithrel in living creatures (humans included) as a quick way to kill it, should they get in range.

***Archangel***

*Seriously, who put this here? We don’t even know if it actually exists.*

*Unknown.*

Rumoured to exist, though just barely. The rumours are not well known — but if you manage to hear them, tells tale of a Tek that rivals the Apostle in power, and can fight in melee with the skill of a Guardian. Not much is known of this mysterious variant, if it even exists.

There are numerous types of Tek. Some are not seen often on the field, therefore may not be listed here OR are completely unknown.

Tek use a variety of weaponry. This includes, but is not limited to:

- walking mortars (escorted by at least three Tek; automated, not alive)

- Aithrel powered guns, from mid-close range rifles to snipers.

- swords infused with Aithrel

- grenades, bombs

- different types of ships

- mech types

Ship types include

- Catchers: Ships patrolling quieter areas where humans have been spotted. As their name says, they capture humans, likely for experimentation purposes. These are remarkably low flying ships, yet quiet, and usually fly during the dark.

- Dreadnought: Only one known so far. In low Earth orbit. Depending on where the ship is, you might be able to see it. The Dreadnought is about 1.7km in length. As to how many crew it, unknown, but likely a lot. Thankfully has never assaulted Earth directly.

- Bombers: Smaller ships that fly high but will take sharp dives to bomb ground targets. Carry a rapid firing gun on the top and bottom of this small ship. Piloted by one.

- Fighters: Larger than the Bomber but not incredibly large. Crewed by 2-3. Heavier diversity of guns than the Bomber.

- Locusts: More drone than ship, as they are too small for a pilot. They hook onto surfaces and self detonate. Commonly fly in swarms.

- Deployment ships: Larger ships known to carry machines and scores of Tek.

Most mechs are piloted by at least three Tek. At the biggest around the size of a school bus. Not bipedal, but usually have four or six ‘legs’. Heavily armoured with powerful guns that take a while to reload.
