Welcome to Ame’s Amazing Assemblage of Anarchy, a Chonny's Charming Chaos Compendium AU where the timeline stretches into part of Hawaii: Pt II instead of looping. Welcome to the madness in our protagonist, Quinn’s, head. Welcome to part of the fucked up little brain I have. Was that a Chonny Jash reference? Yes. Was that a Tally Hall reference? Also yes. This entire AU is simultaneously a Chonny Jash and a Tally Hall reference.
This will be edited as the development of the game continues, but it’s incomplete as of now.
Edit: I might be joining Quinn in going insane while making this.
Disclaimer: This is merely a work of fanfiction in game form. All character concepts, songs, and most of the story belongs to Chonny Jash, Tally Hall, and Miracle Musical. I’m only making a personal interpretation of the story.
Mechanics: This is a classic visual novel game with several perspectives and possible endings. There are dialogue options and action options available in certain episodes, while other episodes are read-only. There will be at least two options for each choice you make, and most options will be categorized as Logical and Emotional (in Cacophony) or Logical, Emotional, and Deranged (in Calamity). Whichever options the player favors will affect the ending you get.
Characters:
Prologue/Cacophony/Concord:
The Heart/Artemis: Heart acts as the right hemisphere of the brain, performing the tasks needed for creativity imagination, as well as processing things like emotion and abstract concepts.
The Mind/Apollo: Mind acts as the left hemisphere of the brain, performing the tasks needed for logic and problem solving, as well as processing things like numbers and speech.
The Soul/Atlas: Soul acts as the identity of the person, or the soul. He also acts as the “ruler” of the Headspace, basically being a leader and mediator. He makes the person unique as an individual.
Calamity/Concord:
The Whole/Quinn: The whole individual that Heart, Mind, and Soul represent.
Stella: Quinn’s friend, who dies early on in Calamity. Stella is not a love interest in this story.
Basic Story Layout:
Cacophony (Part I): Heart, Mind, and Soul (mainly Heart and Mind) start arguing. A lot. The tension rises very quickly, and each character’s mental state declines even more quickly. This goes on for a while until, during a particularly heated argument between Heart and Mind, Heart ends up shooting Mind. The shot misses and hits his throat, however, and he doesn’t die. Soul sees what happened and punishes them both severely, blinding Heart and ripping off Mind’s fucking arms (☠️). Heart gets imprisoned in the void of Apathy for an unspecified amount of time, while Mind struggles with the loss of his other half and the fear and guilt that fester as a result, and Soul struggles with conflicting thoughts about the punishment while his mental state is nearly completely done for, as the mental struggles of the Whole effect Soul the most. After 2-3 episodes in Mind or Soul’s routes and only 1 in Heart’s route, Heart is returned to the Headspace, and now has to adjust to being blind, as well as the heavy trauma that resulted from the incident. After a while longer of nobody’s mental state improving, Soul finally makes the call to just kill the Whole, and everyone else with him.
Calamity (Part II): Quinn has attempted suicide, and the story starts with him having just been released from the hospital. He stays locked up in his room for a while, essentially just doing nothing and rotting away. Stella talks to him eventually, and the two of them agree to go on a walk together, in the hope of improving Quinn’s mental state a bit. The next day, they do take their walk, and it goes well. Until it doesn’t. *Does the weird inverted colors thing /j.* Stella is killed by someone unknown, and runs away before anyone can witness. Quinn ends up accused of the murder. During Quinn’s trial, he decides to plead insanity (Mind rn: STOP PLEASE YOU HAVE THE UPPER HAND KNOWING YOU DIDNT DO IT), which works a bit too well. Quinn is sent to a mental hospital, where he panics for a bit before they decide to give him electroshock therapy. The shock therapy ends up making him go genuinely insane, which you can see in the episodes near the end of Calamity.
Concord (Epilogue): Quinn escapes the mental hospital and starts recovering. Heart, Mind, and Soul also start recovering. Everybody heals. The end.
Episode Layout (EXTREMELY UNFINISHED):
Prologue: Little Blots
Intro to the Heart, Mind, and Soul, and the creation of the Headspace. This is a short, read-only episode with no player intervention.
Part I: Cacophony
Welcome to the mind of Quinn. Enjoy the show!
Choose your route: Heart, Mind, or Soul? (This will not drastically change the main plot, but you will get very different episodes depending on your character. It’s highly recommended to play through all POVS to get the full experience.)
Heart’s Route:
Episode I: The Love, The Hate, The Emotional Side
An intro to Heart’s perspective of Cacophony. This introduces the characters, setting, and the tension building between the three, particularly Heart and Mind. You get to see how Heart views Mind and Soul, along with the issues they struggle with daily, including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and many more emotional problems. All of these are mostly hidden from the others, of course. This is a read-only episode, with no player intervention.
Episode II: Won’t You Please Stop Complaining?
An intro to Heart and Mind’s relationship. It’s centered on dialogue between Heart and Mind, with occasional snippets of Heart thinking and wondering how the brotherly love between the two dissolved into such terrible tension. Heart worries that their older brother hates them and wonders what they said or did wrong. We get a small glimpse of their relationship before the arguments. Player intervention is present during dialogue, allowing you to choose dialogue options for Heart.
Episode III: One And One Cannot Equal Two
An intro to Heart and Soul’s relationship. It’s centered on dialogue between Heart and Soul, with Soul explaining to an exasperated Heart how bad the conflict is for the Whole—for the third time this week. Heart feels that the eldest brother is a bit overbearing, but they know he only wants the best for them all. Right? Heart doubts Soul for a small portion of the episode, but quickly pushes those thoughts from their mind. Player intervention is present in dialogue.
Episode ?: Shot At The Sun With A Gun
Heart’s perspective of the argument leading to the Juno Incident, the Incident itself, and the immediate aftermath. Heart gets into a terrible argument with a Mind, which ends in them shooting Mind, but missing their target and hitting his throat instead. After a moment of panic, Soul comes in to intervene, and sees the mess Heart and Mind made. Soul blinds Heart, and does something to Mind that Heart can’t figure out. Heart blacks out soon after this. Read-only episode.
Post-Juno Episode I: Black, Immaculate, Patterned Silence
After Heart blacks out, they wake up with no vision. Or, really, no feeling at all. Soul condemned Heart to the Apathy void as a punishment for shooting Mind, and we see Heart painfully spiraling as they desperately try to feel anything, even if it’s terrible. Severe s/h is depicted in this episode, and it’s very surreal. Read-only episode.
Mind’s Route:
Episode I: My Logic Is The Absolute
An intro to Mind’s perspective of Cacophony. This introduces the characters, setting, and the tension building between the three, particularly Heart and Mind. You get to see how Mind views Heart and Soul, along with his own personal issues, such as anger issues, stress, and his obsession with cleanliness and order. He refuses to admit how much he’s truly struggling, of course, so he suffers in silence. This is a read-only episode with no player intervention.
Episode II: Oh, You Thought They Were Listening?
An intro to Mind and Heart’s relationship. It’s centered on dialogue between Mind and Heart, with Mind dwelling on Heart’s negative and annoying aspects and overall being kind of a jerk. (“““kind of”””) But Mind could never hate Heart, whether he wanted to or not. He still has that protective instinct towards his younger brother, but normally pushes down the feelings of guilt. After all, the only thing that did was get in the way of more important things. There will be a bit of player intervention.
Episode III: If Mr. Sun Can’t Shine, Nor Can Mr. Moon
An intro to Mind and Soul’s relationship. It’s centered on dialogue between Mind and Soul, as Soul tries to explain to a dismissive and annoyed Mind that the arguing is bad for the Whole. The player gets to decide just how annoyed Mind is with Soul, but nothing drastic happens no matter what options you pick. Mind is a bit suspicious of Soul, and feels that he’s grown a bit of a god complex. There will be moments of player intervention.
Soul’s Route:
Episode I: Call Me Your Host, Or Call Me Insane
An intro to Soul’s perspective of Cacophony. This introduces, you guessed it, the characters, setting, and the tension building between the three, particularly Heart and Mind. You see how Soul views Heart and Mind, as well as see the issues he struggles with, including suicidal thoughts, s/h, and a bit of a god complex. He thinks Heart and Mind are being selfish by arguing, don’t they know it’s bad for the Whole? And they have the audacity to be annoyed when he reminds them of that. This is a read-only episode with no player intervention.
Episode ?: Eyes Be Blocked From Devastation
Soul’s perspective of the Juno Incident and it’s aftermath. He hears Heart and Mind arguing, as usual, but then he hears a gunshot, then silence. Soul rushed to see what happened, and sees Mind bleeding in the floor, with Heart to blame. In a moment of anger, he gouges Heart’s eyes out, rips Mind’s arms off, and sends Heart to Apathy after they pass out. Mind soon passes out as well, and Soul has to patch him up so he doesn’t die. He sees nothing wrong with the punishments he’s given. Read-only episode.
Part II: Calamity
Episode I: You’ll Live Forever Tonight
An intro to how Quinn is coping with the conflict in his head. This is after he attempted to kill himself, and he’s just been discharged from the hospital. He mostly just has a mental breakdown in his room, to be honest. With a few flashbacks, of course. He also talks to a friend of his, and they plan to take a walk the next day. This is a read-only episode with no player intervention.
Episode II: Murders Of Murderers, Living In Fear Of It
It’s the next day, and Quinn and his friend are on their walk. They end up holding a decent conversation, but something feels off to Quinn. Turns out Quinn’s judgement was right, and someone murders Quinn's friend right in front of him, and Quinn is too stunned to do anything until the murderer runs away, leaving Quinn looking extremely suspicious. When the authorities arrive, he is accused of the murder and taken into custody. A bit of player intervention but the outcome stays the same.
Episode III: Father You Honor, May I Explain?
Was that an Ace Attorney reference??
The day of Quinn’s trial. He explains his story, in any way the player chooses. Depending on how the player tells the account, Quinn either listened to or cut off abruptly. But regardless, the response is the same: Quinn cannot provide solid evidence, so how can he be telling the truth? Eventually, Quinn gets desperate and pleads insanity. This seems to do the trick, but now Quinn is being sent to a mental hospital. Oh no.
Episode IV:
