The Founding of Tura
by jsv0ice

In the shadow of ancient, whispering forests and the vibrant, life-giving rivers of a land not yet named, the foundations of Tura were laid. It was the time of division, when numerous city states had settled the rich coastlines and traded along the nascent routes that crossed the seas like the threads of fate.

As they grew more powerful, they drew the eyes of the northern empire. Elelt decided to send an invasion force to control these nascant city states. An envoy of the god Solara came to the leader of one of these city states, James Rothson, and delivered a warning: Unite the cities or fall.

Rothson rode to each of the cities along the northern coast, and was rejected by each of the cities. However, he left an invitation - opening the doors of Tura should the worst happen. The worst happened. Within weeks of his completed tour, the invasion force landed. First Goldbreach, then Stormer, Oguegard, Cloudwatch, and Moongulf. The refugees, including the city leaders and what was left of each city's armies came to Tura and swore allegiance to the city.

According to tradition, when the city leaders gathered to discuss what to do, Solara herself appeared to them, and gave each a powerful artifact to lead the armies. While what exactly happen is obscured by tradition turning into myth - one thing is for sure, uniting the land gave Rothson the power he needed to drive out the Elelt invasion force.

When the land was free, they formed many of the basic tenants of Tura that we know today - having open doors to people no matter where they are from, protecting the weak, and committing to the equality of all. In the hundreds of years since, the Rothson line of monarchs has never been broken.
