Kiara and Corbin were parked outside the Seaboard Marine, where they faced Cain and Tyson before. Corbin's shadow dripped out and went to survey the area, spotting the hostages and the men who were pointing at them. His shadow took out the men with its tentacles before proceeding to free the hostages and help them escape. Tyson turned into a swamp monster and stretched his vines to tie them up, but Corbin's shadow rushed in and delivered a drop kick to Tyson.
Corbin and Kiara arrived at the shipping docks ready to confront their foes. "What's wrong? You were only concerned about bioelectricity. You never mentioned anything about darkness." said Kiara. "Know what? Fine. It doesn't change the fact that each of you are alone and you'll both die!" said Cain. "Let's take this fight a bit further away, Crocodile. I don't want our fights to interlap." "Fine with me. I can guarantee you this will be our last battle." "So can I." Tyson and Corbin got away from Kiara and Cain to engage in their own fight. Corbin summoned his aura while Tyson assumed his swamp monster form.
Tyson fired mud bullets from his mouth that Corbin blocked. His shadow traveled and uppercut Croc, staggering him. Corbin fired multiple darkness shots at him. Tyson felt the pain but still kept standing. "By the way, a new trick? Fine. Two can play at that game." He rooted himself to the ground and vines erupted, wrapping Corbin's aura. "Just because you're not being choked doesn't mean you can freely move." Corbin's shadow traveled along the ground and appeared behind Tyson. As he cupped his hands and attacked, Tyson reverted to his human form aside from his legs. He turned his left arm swampy and wrapped his shadow in vines, squeezing tightly. Corbin's shadow split into pieces, reformed itself in front of Corbin and cut the vines."
"So you've learned to use your shadow as your own personal bodyguard. Big deal." Tyson returned to his full swamp form and crushed even tighter. Corbin used his shadow to cut off the vines and sent it flying towards Tyson. The shadow delivered a punch that Tyson blocked. He looked at Corbin and fired water from his eyes that Corbin deflected with shadow tentacles. "I fail to see how crying will solve your problems." said Corbin.
Tyson opened his mouth and vines came out to restrain the shadow, destroying it without Corbin's intent, leaving him mentally fatigued. Corbin's mental break left him vulnerable to being blasted back by the water. He got up but was feeling exhausted. "Heh. Guess that aura isn't as perfect a defense as I figured. And here I was thinking victory would be impossible." Corbin put his fists up. "You should be worried more about yourself than me." Tyson put his hand on the part of his arm that stopped Corbin's shadow. "Looks to me like you're not exactly peachy keen yourself."
Tyson ran in close with his nails protruding. Corbin avoided his slashes and delivered a punch to his stomach, only for his fist to get wrapped up by his body. Tyson threw a punch, only for Corbin's shadow to catch it. He tightened his grip on Tyson's hand before kicking it. This weakened Croc enough to release Corbin's hand. Corbin unleashed a blast at Tyson's head, only for him to turn human. However, during this small time period, Corbin immediately started running and delivered a sucker punch.
"You really have gotten better. Still, even if you're able to defeat me, your friend's gonna die. I mean, you should definitely remember what Cain did to her. Even as she's fighting while we are, it's only inevitable what's going to happen." "It isn't like that. She's become a much better person who won't lose to some pathetic mobster-wannabe." Corbin surrounded the area in darkness. "Have you forgotten that I can still see even in this dull void?" "I haven't. In fact, I'm counting on it." Corbin's shadow was about to deliver an axe kick from behind, but Croc turned human to avoid it. However, he was bombarded with dark bolts. He got back up in his swamp monster form. "You claimed that your swamp form gave you superior senses to a standard Magian, but that also means it's the only form of yours that can see in this void. In other words, no more switching forms to avoid attacks."
"It doesn't matter. If anything, I appreciate you having this void active. It seems duller than last time you used it, meaning I can use it as a gauge for how much strength you have left." Tyson ran in to deliver a fast barrage of punches that Corbin was able to avoid. He charged his fists with darkness and punched Tyson's stomach many times. Angry, he lashed out and backhanded him. Corbin put up a defensive position, knocking him back and reducing any potential damage.
Tyson attempted to reach out and grab Corbin. In response, Corbin created a knife and slashed his palm, causing him to cry out in pain. As he held his hand, he started to remember when the same happened to his face. Excessively angry, he ran in and delivered a punch with his other fist that broke Corbin's aura, shocking him. He used vines to start gripping Corbin. "You contemptuous bastard! Oh, I really need to do this right now." He began strangling Corbin's body as tightly as possible. "I was hoping to savor the battle a little more, but I can't stand having to deal with such an insolent brat." However, Corbin was maintaining a small part of his aura around his neck area, preventing him from being completely strangled.
His shadow delivered an uppercut that knocked him back before unleashing a huge swath of punches to the face. As Corbin destroyed the vines, Tyson put his hands on his knees, panting. "Of course you responded like that. Your boss got all pissy when Kiara started winning so it only makes sense you'd fall victim to a weakness as pathetic as his." Tyson's teeth turned into fangs as he ran towards Corbin with nails out as well. Corbin put away the darkness and had his shadow punch Tyson in the face, knocking him out.
Kiara stood face to face with Cain, ready to put a stop to all of his crimes. "You really are a sickening, pathetic man. But I shouldn't be surprised. After all, I've dealt with your kind since I was 14." "You may not like my methods, fine. But they are effective. Were it not for Caesar, you and your friends would be dead by our hands. My father taught me that the most important thing in life is success. And my uncle taught me that you need to work smarter, not harder." "I can't believe you'd desecrate your own family by using them as a justification for your twisted means. I can't stand the sound of you."
"I refuse to let some guidette bring everything I've accomplished down to the ground." He whipped out his gun and fired at her, but she kept dodging them. Cain ran in with his dagger to stab her many times, but she dodged each attempt with great fluidity. He attempted to palm strike her stomach with a bone spike protruding out, but she backed away. She launched bioelectricity from her eyes at him, but he blocked with his knife. He aimed his palm at her chest and extended his bone towards her. She dodged, but he made his bone serrated and moved his arm swiftly to cut her, however she was only knocked to the ground thanks to her bioelectric aura.
"What the?" asked Cain. "Impressive, right? It's a trick I learned from my little protege. Now I'm afraid you won't be able to stab or cut me." she said. He retracted his bone back inside his body. She got up and made a bear and it ran in to punch. He rolled up his sleeves to make a shield from his arm that blocked the bear's hit.
Cain summoned claws from his fingers and impaled its eyes, causing great mental anguish to her. He then proceeded to run in with a staff from his wrist and beat her with it. However, while winded by his attacks and breathing heavily, she was still standing. She started dodging after some recovery, but he kicked her leg, distracting her. He then put as much force as he could behind his next attack and shattered her aura.
He extended a bone spike from his palm towards her foot that she avoided. He swept his hand to try and trip her, only for her to jump and avoid it. Regardless, he exploited her current vulnerability and retracted his bone palm, sending it her way with no means of avoidance. To escape this predicament, she made a wolf below her feet and jumped off of it. Before Cain could do anything, the wolf bit his bone, electrocuting him for a while.
"I can tell something like this is far above what you wanted. After all, this might actually be the first time you've ever had to face a problem head-on." said Kiara. He summoned bone spikes across his arms, uncaring about the damage to his clothes. He tried to skewer her with them, but she evaded his attempts. She ducked and rolled one of his swipes and fired bioelectricity at him that he blocked.
"Firing for a long time just drains you, stupid! You need to learn to be resourceful." he said. She continued firing, ignoring the warnings of her adversary. He moved his face back due to the residual sparks affecting him. She smirked at him and ceased her attack. Kiara ran closer to engage him in hand-to hand.
He unloaded an unholy volley of punches, but she kept dodging them and delivered a punch to his face. Unfortunately, he kneed her in the ribs with a serrated bone coming out, causing her to stagger and pant. "Impressive. You summoned your aura right before I struck you. Maybe you're not as stupid as I thought." He extended his palm spike towards her, knocking her head back and giving him enough time to close in and push her to the ground.
"That's why I really need to kill you." said Cain. He kept kicking her while she was down until her aura eventually broke. He expanded his palm spike, intent on killing her. However, she manifested her aura and blocked his attack, stupefying him. "Predictable. If victory looks easy, you're just gonna go for it, consequences be damned. You're so stupid." she said. Kiara projected bioelectricity at him, forcing him back and hurting him, allowing her to get up.
"This doesn't make sense. I shattered your aura!" he said. "No, I just let you hit me a couple of times so that you'd think you did." she replied. She created a raccoon that jumped towards him. He caught it, but it kept scratching his hands. "Tell the truth. Is there anything in life you actually earned? Or did you just take achievements that should've gone to more deserving people?"
He threw the raccoon and lengthened his bone knuckle that she blocked with her arm and aura. "Well, at least there's a bit of variety. But it's far too late." she said. As she stood her ground, he started to feel a sharp tingling sensation in his arms and legs. "What? Why is this happening? I haven't detached any of my bones!"
"Like I said, you're predictable and stupid. Didn't you think it odd that I kept releasing bioelectricity for a long time? Whenever I attacked you, I sent bioelectric termites into your skeletal system. They were gnawing away at your bones during our battle." she said. "I would've known that. There's no way!" he said. "During a high-stress fight? Please. I've seen how you've been trying to deal with us. There's no way you'd have the focus necessary to deduce that."
"But I don't get it. How could you have done that during our fight?" he said. "I'm incredibly good at multitasking. Another benefit of my Factor." She launched bioelectricity from her eyes at his neck, knocking him out. She went towards him and proceeded to put the Debilitrum cuffs on him.
Kiara met up with Corbin after his battle and was happy to see him. She ran to embrace him and kissed his cheek. A little surprised, Corbin was happy Kiara was still alive and hugged her back. "We finally did it. Now my family doesn't have to be in hiding anymore." she said. "It took us a while, but we've finally put these guys away." said Corbin.
On the following day, The Swarm and Caesar were at his house eating lasagna. "I hope you like it. You deserve only the best after taking down that virus." said Caesar. "Well, we wouldn't have done it without you. If it weren't for you feeding us information, who knows what could've happened to us. Not to mention my family. This is as much a victory for you as it is for us." said Kiara. "Thank you. And don't worry. I promise I won't be as bad as Cain. And hey, if I am, I'll throw myself into jail." said Caesar. Natalia was staring off with a worried look on her face. "Something wrong?" asked Andrew. "Oh, it's nothing." she said. "Well, one thing I am curious about is the person Cain was dealing with, but I suppose that's a problem to deal with at a later date and time. For now, let's celebrate." said Kiara.
After dinner, Corbin arrived home and was greeted by Ernest. "Greetings, Corbin. How was dinner with Caesar?" "Pretty good. But don't worry, he won't be replacing you." Ernest smiled a bit at the remark. "By the way, there's a few people here to see you." Curious, Corbin went inside only to see three old men sitting at a table playing poker. "Well, well. If it isn't the little rookie himself. Kudos for helping to take down your first criminal organization." said one of the men. "Thank you, Konstantin. That means a lot coming from you." "I had faith that you'd succeed." said one man. "Thank you, Dominik. And what about you, Felix?" asked Corbin. "Well, if you died, it would've meant that those 4 years were a waste. Now come on and join already." said Felix. "Eh, I'll take it." said Corbin. Corbin and Ernest sat down and all 5 men began playing poker with each other.
Kiara went back to her old job. She knocked on the door of her old boss. He opened the door and was surprised to see her after all these years. "Is it too late to do the story on that snowstorm?" she asked. Her boss chuckled a bit. "Kiara, come on in." he said. "Thank you." She walked in and they both took a seat. "Wow. It's been so long. How are you?" he asked. "I'm good. I can tell business is still good." "You still read us? That's wonderful to know. I'm glad to see that despite the job you have, you're ok."
"I didn't come here to ask for my old job. I'm here to apologize." she said. His face turned to surprise. "Oh, ok then." he said. "You already know about what me and my team have been up against, but what you don't know is this. I actually encountered their boss at Harbor's Edge Park and almost died. If were not for our new recruit, I wouldn't be speaking to you right now. Plus, that little skirmish prompted him to try and use my own brothers as leverage against me. All that made me realize how foolish I'd been and I want to say: I'm sorry for disobeying you all those years ago."
Her boss smiled and gave her a hug. "It's all right, kid. I forgive you." She teared up a little and hugged him back, smiling. "Hey, just know that I'm here for you and your team if you ever need any help. Any information, we'll provide." said her boss. "Thank you so much."
