Seth had snuck into Kiara's house with a gun in hand. He managed to get inside Kiara's room, seeing a big lump on Kiara's bed. He checked to see if she was there and she was, completely asleep. He took out a knife and was about to stab her when she woke up, whipped out a gun, and shot him in the right eye, causing him to scream loudly. She tried to shoot him again, but he dodged and retreated.
The next day, Corbin and Natalia walked towards the building. As they reached the elevator, he glanced at her. "I really hope Lupa will be okay." said Corbin. "She will. I've known her for 2 years. She's a strong, capable woman." She touched his shoulder and looked towards him, smiling. Corbin smiled back, chuckling. "Thanks for lightening my load."
At the lair, Andrew was pacing while Kiara was sitting down with her arms crossed. "How on Earth did this happen?" asked Andrew. "I'm not exactly sure." said Kiara. "At least you're safe. Still, I don't think it's a good idea for you to keep living at your house right now. You should live with Natalia until we take care of these guys." "What's the matter? Afraid you won't be able to control yourself around me? Well, can't say I blame you." Andrew put his hand to his face. "Is now really the time for this?" "Alright, alright. Very well. I suppose Natalia will enjoy the extra company." Kiara got up and was about to leave. "By the way, I appreciate the concern. Thank you." "Yeah, of course." said Andrew.
Kiara went to the parking lot and Corbin followed her. "Need something?" asked Kiara. "Yeah, knowledge. How'd they get your address?" "No clue. But it really doesn't matter. As long as they don't discover where Natalia lives, we should be fine. Any other concerns?" "Yeah. Judging by almost every mission we've been on together, you seem way too excited to find trouble. Why is that?" "Well, I guess I'd attribute it to my upbringing."
In the past, Kiara was a little girl when she was holding a toy gun. She aimed at a tower of cups and managed to knock over all of them with a dart. She was excited and her dad hugged her. At another point in time, she was in a forest with her toy gun, trying to find her dad without being spotted by him. She almost stepped on a branch before stepping over it. She managed to spot him and hit him in the head with a dart. On a separate occasion, her dad hit her arm with a fly swatter with as much force as necessary. Despite this, she did not scream. "Alright. On a scale of 1 to 10, what do you rate that?" asked her dad. "It's a 5." "Good, good."
"That's a basic idea of my childhood. My dad did this because he hoped his firstborn would be a boy. Of course, when my little brothers were born, everything he did with me, he did with them to the umpteenth degree. That said, there's one event in my life that truly shaped who I am."
One day, Kiara and her dad were arriving home from school when they saw a woman impaled by crystals. After arriving home, her dad went to the kitchen to find her mother. "Luna, why did we just see Bailey completely impaled by crystals?" Luna started to tear up. "There's this gang. They've decided to make this neighborhood their base and they used her as an example of what would happen if anyone disobeyed." Kiara went up to her brothers' room and found them covered up in their blankets. "Hey, are you guys okay?" "Is this gonna be our lives now?" asked Dante. Kiara became worried and embraced both of them. "Don't worry. I will never let anyone hurt you two."
That night, a meeting was held in the kitchen and Kiara was outside listening. "We can't allow this to continue! Bailey was a family friend and they just skewered her? No. I refuse to stand for such bullshit. We're getting them out of here right now!" said a man. Everyone else clapped. "I understand how you feel, Tristan. But we have to go about this logically. Otherwise, we'll just be throwing our lives away. We need to find a way to chase these people out of here." said Kiara's dad. "Gianmarco's got a point. I suggest that when one of us is being hassled, someone from far away makes a phone call. If the person making the call isn't the victim, they'll have no way of being able to tell who it is and we can always delete our call history." said a man. "Sounds like a good idea except I'm not sure how we're supposed to know when a crime is taking place if we're not present." said Gianmarco. "Which is why we'll have a scout. They'll be able to spot a crime occurring and notify us about it." said the man. "That's a smart idea. So who'll be the scout?" asked Gianmarco. The men all looked at each other, unsure of who should do it.
"I'll do it." said Kiara as she walked in. Everyone was surprised. "I can just create animals to spy on them when they don't expect it and feed you all the necessary information. You've taught me how to hunt so I should be able to stalk them without being noticed." said Kiara. "Even with all of that, I don't want to risk these people hurting you. I can't allow this." "Hold on, Gianmarco. Kiara, how far can your creatures be from you and can they really gather info?" asked Tristan. "Ten kilometers. I checked during a trip to the forest. And yes, they can. I don't know how to explain it, but it's as if I'm sort of connected to my bioelectricity. It's probably because this comes directly from my body. Don't worry, I don't feel the same pain if my bioelectric animals do. Just mental fatigue." Gianmarco looked down, unsure of what to consider. "Please, dad. I don't want Dante and Manlio to be scared to live in this neighborhood. I won't let them see me at all." Gianmarco's hand curled into a fist before releasing. "Ok. But you'll have to be in someone else's house while doing this." said Gianmarco.
The following day, Kiara created a hawk that resided in a tree to spy on the criminals. She spotted a few and saw that one had the power to produce acid. She immediately got her phone and dialed a number in. "Mr. Lindon. There are criminals who are trying to collect money from Mr. Drummond. About 5 of them all armed with guns and one of them can make acid." "Thank you, Kiara. Come on. Let's save Tristan, boys!" They all went to Tristan's house and fought off the guys trying to harass him.
In the present day, Corbin couldn't help but be surprised by this story. "Wow. How old were you when this happened?" asked Corbin. I was 14. We couldn't call on the Convocation otherwise we'd end up like Bailey so we fought them on our own for a year." "Wow. I can't believe you had to go through that." "It's fine. If anything, witnessing such danger was actually really fun. Once they were arrested for good, we moved from Naples to Boca Raton and I wanted a chance at being able to immortalize any excitement. That's when I learned about photography. I honed my skills in yearbook and after graduation, I became a photojournalist."
At Turtle Run Park, Hugo was in a park performing yoga. He was positioned in the Vrikshasana pose when he was knocked over by a fox. "Was that really necessary? You could've just tapped my shoulder." "Yeah, but this was more fun. Check your phone." Hugo took out his phone and saw that he had many missed calls from Pardus. Nervously, he decided to answer back. "Do you have any idea how many times I've been trying to call you?" "If you're constantly making calls to someone like me and are getting left on pause, you should already know why." "Whatever. I've got two boys I need you to kidnap." Caesar listened in on the conversation and felt nothing but disgust from Pardus.
Kiara suddenly got a phone call from him and answered it. "What important information do you have for me?" "It's your brothers. They're going to be kidnapped once they get home. He isn't there right now, but he will be going there once it's 2:00. I can send you where he is right now." Kiara's face expressed worry and concern. "How do you know that?" "Some of the enforcers have goons that used to work for my dad. They're not exactly happy that some unrefined oaf has taken over, so they're helping me collect information. Once your brothers arrive home, the enforcer Cage Sage will be waiting to take them." "How did they learn where my brothers live?" asked Kiara. "Snow Biz ordered an enforcer named Zoocreeper to tail you after your fight with him. He was able to tell since the agent who wanted to meet with him was a woman. He probably decided to do this in case he lost. And I'm guessing that eventually, he found out where your brothers live by proxy. Cage Sage has the ability to manipulate rainbows." "Ok. Thank you, Caesar." said Kiara.
Kiara hung up the phone and put her hands on her face, greatly distraught from this news. "This is all my fault. I provoked their boss and now he clearly wants revenge." Corbin reached out to touch her shoulder but hesitated from doing so. Kiara put her hands down, took a deep breath, and exhaled. "Okay. Right now, it's 1:27. My brothers live about 14 minutes away. School ends at 3 for them, so I should be able to save them before it's too late." "Hold on. Let's tell Andrew first." said Corbin. Kiara contemplated the idea. "You know what? Yeah. Let's do that." said Kiara.
Andrew and Natalia were stunned to hear this news. "Don't worry. I'll make sure that you're safe at my home." said Natalia. "Thank you. I really appreciate it." "First you, and now your brothers? How'd they get this info? It's not like we ever invited Scars to our homes. What's the deal here?" asked Andrew. "That's what I plan to find out from this Cage Sage." said Kiara angrily. Andrew put his hand on her shoulder. "Calm down. You're letting your emotions get the best of you. Trust me when I say that's a bad idea." Kiara closed her eyes and sighed. "You're right. If I let myself get angry, there's no telling what trouble I'll get into. Speaking of which, I'm sorry, Corbin. I've been such a lousy mentor, prioritizing excitement over your development. And look where it's gotten us now. This never would've happened if I weren't so eager to face Cain."
"It's okay. Given your past, I can sort of understand why you act the way you do. I won't hold it against you. But I get the feeling Pardus will hold your brothers over you. Let's do what we can to stop that." said Corbin. "Good, you're coming with me. Your abilities should be able to shut down his." Kiara looked at Andrew, curious of his approval. He nodded with a smile and she smiled back. Following that exchange, they left to take down Cage Sage.
At the park, he was in the middle of the Lotus Pose when Zoocreeper flew onto his face as a roach. Despite the setback, he remained resolute in his stance. "Why don't you bother the other parkgoers?" "Already did. It's not as fun compared to you." He decided to continue moving about on Cage Sage's face, but no reaction was elicited. "I can't believe I brought this idiot along." thought Cage Sage. "Though as much as I'm getting from this, I should let you know that it's almost time for you to go." Sage broke out of position and checked the time. "Woah, you're right. Come on."
Corbin and Kiara arrived at the park and spotted two men alone. He checked his phone and the location of Cage Sage correlated with the location on his phone. Corbin fired a ray of darkness at Hugo, who avoided it. Zoocreeper hopped off his face and turned back into human. "Not sure why you turned human. I think your previous form is far more fitting for you and all of your colleagues." said Kiara. "Looks like I might actually get to have some real fun!" said Zoocreeper.
He transformed into a panther and lunged towards Kiara. She fired a shield at him, pushing him away. She made a lion that bit his neck and pinned him down. He transformed into a bumblebee and flew towards her. She tried to hit him, but he kept weaving around all of her attacks. She stopped moving and focused, striking him with a bioelectric blast from her eyes. He struggled to remain airborne and turned into a giraffe.
Corbin generated tentacles to attack, only for them to be blocked by Hugo's brown rainbows. To counter this, Corbin extended his hand covered in darkness and was about to absorb them, but Hugo created a red rainbow in front of Corbin, completely taking all of his attention. Hugo fired an orange and yellow rainbow at him, which knocked him back and exploded. "I get it. Your ability differs depending on what kind of color you use." "Colors can have different effects on the human body. Red demands attention, orange stimulates, while yellow energizes!"
Kiara was hit by Zoocreeper swinging his neck at her, but she latched onto him and shocked him. He turned into a horse. He attempted to kick her with his hind legs and missed since she backed away. She created a snake that wrapped around his leg and bit him. "I only came here for some excitement. I'm out of here!" he said. To escape, he turned into a scarab beetle and dug underground. Kiara glanced and saw Corbin trying to defend himself against Hugo's orange rainbows. She decided to focus on him and fired bioelectricity from her eyes at Hugo's leg, bringing him down on one knee.
Corbin created tentacles to wrap him up, suspended him in mid-air, and closed his own eyes. "Lupa, close your eyes! He can affect your mood with rainbows!" He spotted a water fountain, closed his eyes and focused. He created two rainbows with shades of blue and pink from said fountain that hit both of them, causing intense levels of sadness. "You seem to have a complete misunderstanding of my Factor. When did I ever say you could negate it by just closing your eyes?"
Hugo was released and landed on both feet and saw both enemies on their knees, crying. However, they started to get a grasp on themselves and focused their attacks on him. He was blasted back and managed to get up, albeit panting heavily. Their emotional state returned to normal while he surrounded himself in green to provide revitalization. "I think I get it. It's more than just moods. Colors also have different meanings to them as well. I think he can also use abilities related to the meanings of different colors. That's why he can heal himself with green." said Kiara. "And based on how he used red to both distract my attention and infuriate me, it seems he can pick and choose what the color does at any point." said Corbin. "Why haven't you absorbed his rainbows?" "I need to see them first and by then, I'm already susceptible to whatever emotion he's trying to bring out of me." said Corbin.
Kiara brought out her gun and fired at him, but he blocked with a brown rainbow. Afterwards, he made it red and orange. This caused them to feel great amounts of anger and excitement. Despite this, however, Kiara's resolve stayed strong and she managed to gain some level of control. She fired a bioelectric stream from her eyes at his neck, causing him to fall to the floor and disperse his rainbows. Once his senses returned to normal, he saw Kiara place the Debilitrum cuffs on him.
Later that day, Kiara was getting ready to get in her car when she felt a shoulder tap. She turned around to see Corbin. "So am I doing a good job now?" she said. "Yeah. I've got a good feeling that you'll be able to guide me the right way." Kiara smiled at him and ruffled his hair. She extended her hand to receive a handshake. "You can be absolutely certain that I'll do my best to teach you how to be an effective agent." Corbin looked up to her and smiled. "Thank you." He shook her hand.
