When she landed back in her realm, the first thing she saw was the burnt orange sky. It was beautiful in that devastating way of eternal sunsets, that long, tense moment when the world held its collective breath, when one managed to escape the fiery flames of a forest fire far past the horizon, the weight of death and crispy destruction staining the sky in the fumes of burnt skin and ravaged, barren lands. As if the tower was straining against its own weight, and could topple over into the sometimes-ice-sometimes-lava ocean that rose and fell on the breath of a sleeping giant buried beneath the earths most volatile tectonic plates.
