Overview
In the 1940s, the Jewish communities in Europe were ravaged by Nazi control. Tucked away in the Sub-Carpathian Mountains, Helen Lazarovics and her family lived mostly isolated from the events of the Jewish Holocaust. Caught unaware, they were swept up into the ghettos and concentration camps at the end of the war. Inspired by true events, this novel follows Helen's life through her isolated childhood, enslavement in the Concentration Camps, and, ultimately, facing her survivor's guilt. Helen of Valor is a story about how love can power survival through the worst circumstances and how that same love persists as a haunting presence decades later.
