Overview

Cranford is a witty portrait of small city existence in early-Victorian England. The tale unfolds through the eyes of Mary Smith, a younger female who observes the comedic struggles of  middle elderly sisters of their efforts to maintain a stage of refined dignity amid poverty. Cranford is one of the better-recognized novels of the nineteenth-century English creator Elizabeth Gaskell. It become first posted, irregularly, in 8 instalments, among December 1851 and May 1853, within the mag Household Words, which turned into edited by means of Charles Dickens.
It changed into then published, with minor revision, in e book shape in 1853. In the years following Elizabeth Gaskell's dying the radical became immensely famous.
