Possible Backstory and Ending One
It was a tv series that was supposed to be made into an intense fictional fantasy tv drama about individuals surviving in a harsh immortal world where they have to find a gyroscope to keep themselves alive. That was the only rule since the directors and cast knew that the 'characters' in the series were never going to die anyway even if they did end up with severe injuries. So there was no way anyone was going to die even if their gyroscope ended but audiences realised halfway through the season these actors weren't acting. They were real people going through real scenarios and so the show stopped airing because they were endangering innocents. They imprisoned the director Jai Kilmer and saved the actors from their prison and the show was scrapped for good. It was very soon forgotten.
Soon though, Kilmer escapes prison and decided if they weren't going to let him play out his tv series he might as well keep it for himself. So he creates a giant underground chamber and with the help of his associates he ends up kidnapping all the 'actors' he had for his series and implanting fake memories that belonged to those actors' characters.
He put his own little twists and turns in it and this never-ending loop has been playing for five years with Kilmer tweaking at their memories and changing the plot around here and there for his own enjoyment.
***
Whisp, Dann, S, Max and Alphie all find this out first since they end up finding the exit which leads straight to security and find they are able to see everything that is happening. Whisp finds a pile of files and finds that they all have photos of everyone they've met and everything about them. They soon find out that their memories have been modified due to what the files say and also because Kilmer enters the room and tells them everything and they all find out that they've been in this situation at least twice before. He plays those old clips and they find it's the exact same word for word.
S with his newfound powers gets pissed off and kills Kilmer with it. Whisp realises immediately that this was a mistake and they realise that this was all part of the script. Alphie then decides to play the whole clip and figures out that there must be more to this.
Their time runs out. The ending starts with the exact same wording as the start of the series from Rin's perspective.
Maybe: The epilogue is Kilmer casually watching the reset and what happens behind the scenes of their reset. He decides that this time people will actually die because he is now getting bored of his creation.
Ending or Backstory Two
It is a TV show. Nobody realises that everyone in it is not acting and that the actor's memories have been fiddled with by Kilmer. The tv series goes on for a good fifteen episodes before it suddenly goes off-air and nobody knows why. It was because Kilmer realises that his 'actors' have figured out something and had found things that he didn't want them to find.
For example:
-S + Alphie find the Gyroscope tablets and find out how long they're going to survive
-Felix's real memories start to come through and he ends up vengeful. He decides to go on a hunt for the exit and for Kilmer. Also, his powers were never supposed to be a thing and Kilmer didn't know about this problem until later on.
-Alphie was supposed to be an amnesiac for the whole series and he was never supposed to get his memories back but they did and he remembers bits and pieces of being captured and put there.
-Whisp and Dann discover the exit after a glitch. Since they were with Max, Alph and S they tell them and they go through it.
*****
The Ending:
Big Five go through the exit, find the security and go further down a hall and end up having Kilmer taking them into a huge cafeteria. He explains everything and gives them a choice.
-To have their memories reset and they continue on with their lives in the Gyroscope universe until the series ends.
OR
-Go above ground and tell the fans that they’ve resigned. Live lives as famous individuals and whisper not a sound about the truth of his little project and the series keeps running until it ends.
Ending or Backstory 3
The whole series ends as soon as Rin dies. Right in the middle of a sentence too.
We never find out what happens to the others and readers are left guessing as to what happened and why they were put here.
(I want to do this but then I want to write more loooorrre)
Ending 4
The readers will have no idea whether any of the characters escaped or not. Cliffhanger.
Other Shit
Maybe the world had been through an apocalypse and is just a bunch of ruins and they escaped and found that it was like that???.
