(M ya dead?)
(yea i died)
Havenwood stirred as the light shone through the crack in his door. "THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?" He bellowed.
Elise jumped at the bellow interrupting the silence of the night, and the horrid chain spilled out of her pocket with a shhhink onto the tiled floor. She jumped to pick it up, but not before Havenwood appeared in the doorway.
He looked rumpled and bedridden. His hair was tousled and he wore a loose t-shirt with too-low sweatpants. "The hell is that?" He nodded to the chain.
Elise gulped. "It's…a chain. As it appears to be." She hurried to put it in her pocket but Havenwood wasn't giving up.
He swooped and grabbed it. "A chain? For what?"
"Um…me." Silence.
"Explain," Havenwood grunted, breaking the silence.
"It's bad. Real bad." Elise looked up at Havenwood. He stared back.
"In the city, I was kidnapped as a slave of sorts for one of the biggest gang leaders there." A heavy, cracking sigh emitted from her chest. "I was only sixteen." Her body heaved at the memory and she sat - well, she kind of sank - to the floor. "I was forced to work every waking moment - most of the sleeping ones, too. I managed to get 'special' work making fancy guns for the leader. I worked so much of the 'special' post that I got out. But the 'special' post was just worse than my previous one." Havenwood could see, even though she was trying to hide it, that she was crying.
Havenwood sighed and kneeled next to her. "Come on, don't cry." He put a hand on her shoulder and rubbed it. "It's over now, and that's what matters, huh? Besides, all of that work wasn't for nothing."
"I said too much, didn't I? See, now I'm crying, like the asshole I am." She sank lower on her knees, if it was possible. "I deserved to do it."
(OOOOOOH THE SHIIIP I GOTTA MAKE A NAME. Helise? yes.)
Havenwood sighed. "Look, I didn't mean to be short with you. You were just being… nevermind, but come on…" He bit his tongue helplessly.
(OOOOOOH THE SHIIIP I GOTTA MAKE A NAME. Helise? yes.)
(YISSS)
"I'm sorry. I want to get rid of it, but I can't…and the things…it's just…" Elise heaved a sob, letting her body lean into Havenwood's.
(helise is yas)
"I…I know." He wrapped his arms around her… which felt about right, and let her lean into him.
Elise kept sobbing, and it didn't look like she was going to stop. "I need to sleep." She picked up the chain, stuffed it into her pocket, and got up weakly, thin legs shaking violently.
Havenwood stood quickly with her. "Get some water and maybe some more to eat."
"T-that's what I came here for," Elise replied as best one can when they're sobbing their heart out, reaching for a cup.
"Go lay down in my bed and I'll warm something up for you."
I won't treat her like Zeus treats everyone else.
Elise walked with her broad steps, which were well maintained even in times of distress, and found herself burrowed into Havenwood's bed. Trying not to stain anything, she breathed in deeply, and she was not expecting the strong smell of gunpower, pine, and something very masculine that she knew wasn't cologne but couldn't put her finger on. It smelled nice.
(Dead?)
Havenwood warmed up some of the soup he made on the stove and poured her a glass of milk, rather than water. Once the soup was warm, he poured it into a bowl, plunked a spoon into that shit, and brought them both to her.
(Not dead, had to take my dog out.)
