Kera gave a laugh. it was nice, not fighting with everyone.. hearing Jonathan’s voice not be tempered with rage. She looked over at him, admiring some of his features. It wasn’t until, she heard the death ping did it break her stare “ Fuck! Where was the fucking medic?! “
Jonathan snickered when he heard Kera laughing. He was too focused on the game to notice her looking at him. When Kera’s character died, he traced it back to the person that shot her, sniping them. He then discovered that the same guy had killed the medic.
“Avenging angel, twice over. That’s fucking funny,”he commented.
“ fucking hilarious “ kera said sarcastically and set her tablet down.
Jonathan snickered, glancing at her. He then noticed her setting the tablet down, and looked at her inquisitively.
“Not joining back in, or is this one of those servers that ya get one chance and that’s it?”he asked, glancing back at his character and ducking down.
“ one chance, “ she said softly and started trying to pet Edgar
Jonathan shrugged casually, turning back to the computer. He noticed someone else sneaking up on him and whirled around. He shot the guy, but was nearly killed as well.
“Son of a bitch!”he burst.
He moved to a corner, waiting to see if his character healed. Unfortunately, someone else came in and shot him before he could retaliate.
“Well shit. That’s me then,”Jonathan said, laughing. He turned away from his computer.
Edgar noticed her hand and hopped out of her reach, giving her a suspicious glare.
Kera sighed, she looked to Jonathan, her snowy blue eyes watching his features
Jonathan noticed her look, staring back at her timidly.
“Ya alright?”he asked, unsure what else to say.
“ yeah, sorry, “ she apologized and looked away. Kera looked back at Edgar and held her hand out for him.
Jonathan nodded, wondering if he should say something else. Memories of their conversation earlier, the one about their shared childhood, and her comment, nagged at him.
He turned away, exiting out of the game, the main screen of his computer coming on. The background was a picture of outerspace, a black void with spots of light marking each star. A handful of apps were on the side, mainly games like Solitaire and Chess. Jonathan sat there, staring at the screen in indecision, his mind still lingering on all that had recently happened between him and Kera.
Edgar continued to glare for a moment, then slowly approached, appraising her hand. He then gently nibbled on a finger before moving away, heading to Jonathan and nuzzling him.
Jonathan turned, smiling lightly and gently petting Edgar.
Kera laughed softly at his show of love. She grabbed her tablet and started drawing Jonathan right in the moment of his smile. She captured his good side and Edgar’s beautiful feathers before lightly coloring it in
Jonathan glanced at Kera with a shy smile, then turned back to Edgar. After a moment he noticed Kera doing something on her tablet. He continued to pet Edgar, but he watched her curiously.
Kera signed her name and wrote a little sweet note air dropped the picture to Jonathan. She wouldn’t look at him until he’d say something.
Jonathan continued to watch her until he got the notification. He looked at the picture, amazed and a bit stunned. He then noticed the little note.
(So, what does the note say?)
( probably so,thing hinting toward her feelings like “ I think about you a lot more then I should “ or some shit like that )
Kera kept her eyes on the floor, the dusting of pink on her cheeks as memory’s of her childhood replayed in her mind, especially the time They’d all drank coffee and found out kera was seriously allergic to it.
(Alright, lol)
Jonathan froze a moment when he read the little note. He glanced at her, seeing her slight blush. He hadn’t misheard her!
He looked back at the note, reading it repeatedly. He then realized something. Some of the looks she had given him when they were little, they weren’t as scary as he had originally thought. And, maybe those times when she had stalked him… maybe she had only been curious about him. The more he thought about it, the more he realized how much he had overreacted to basically everything she had done around him.
“I… um…”he started, glancing at her again. He then turned away, tapping his chin quickly, his eyes fixed on the little note.
“I… I honestly don’t… um… know w… what to say. It’s… definitely beautiful though,”he finally managed to say, still overwhelmed by his realization.
It took him a moment to quit staring at the note, instead looking down at his keyboard. His ears burned and he was a bit afraid to look at Kera then. He was too distracted by his spinning thoughts to really notice how warm his cheeks had become.
Kera cleared her throat, “ th..thanks..” she said softly, not daring to glance at him. After a moment she feared he hadn’t felt the same “ i..Ima go..” she said and got up to walk out.
Jonathan nodded at her thanks, clearing his throat. He then looked at her when she spoke again, a bit concerned. He hoped he didn’t say anything to upset her.
“I… ya… ya don’t have to go, if… if ya don’t want to. Um… c… could I ask a question though? Were… were ya being honest with that comment ya made earlier?”he stammered, barely able to look in her direction now.
Was she being honest? Had he been overreacting to her all this time? If so, then what did that mean now?
“ yeah.. yeah I was. I had fallen so fucking hard for you that even max had taken notice. And then we were split up..” she said softly and sat back down. “ was I really that scary?”
Jonathan stared at her a moment in shock. She had? And Max had known? His own brother had known, and never mentioned it? That jealous son of a bitch!
“I… I never knew. And… yeah, ya were… still are. I don’t know why. For the longest time, I thought ya scared me because ya remind me of Max sometimes, but that doesn’t make sense because I could deal with his bullshit. I… I just… don’t know. But… now that I think of it, I had overreacted so goddamn much, and was too caught up in the moment to notice what ya were really doing. No wonder Mom had always been so worried about me…”Jonathan replied, stunned.
Edgar chirped, confused. Jonathan absently petted him, lost in thought.
Kera felt like she’d done something wrong. “ I.. Im sorry..” she said softly and griped to her sleeves of her sweater.
Jonathan noticed her actions, concerned.
“It wasn’t your fault. I was the one who had been overreacting, remember?”he asked, chuckling, hoping to cheer her up a bit.
“Besides, Max didn’t help the situation either. He never mentioned anything about your fondness of me, the jealous bastard. And, I still believe he had something to do with why I was so fucking scared of ya. I didn’t learn how to deal with his shit until after we split, and he was much more subtle when we were kids, so… But, anyways, I’m going to give myself a headache if I keep trying to figure all this out at once.”
Jonathan sighed, rubbing his temples. He then remembered his little comment of her still being scary.
“And… considering all that’s happened today, you’re not as scary as I had thought. And your art is beautiful,”he added quietly, looking at the pic she had sent to him.
Much like your eyes.
His ears started to burn at that thought, and Jonathan knew he was blushing slightly. He tried hard not to chew on his lip. Where had that come from? Maybe it was because he had always been fascinated by her eyes, even though he always ran once they looked at him. He wasn’t sure, particularly with the little note in sight again.
Kera gave a soft laugh, her voice almost as sweet as honey. “ thank you, “ she said softly and scooted a bit closer to him. Kera could see his blush but figured hers was way darker not saying much about it.
“You’re welcome,”he replied sincerely.
He glanced over at her, noticing her blush and closer proximity, and quickly looked away, his cheeks becoming more red. He chuckled shyly, scratching the back of his head. His eyes became fixed on the note again.
(Just so you know, I edited the Notes on the Amelia’s character page. I added some more detail to the descriptions of the other characters)
