Jonathan noted Kera’s head shake, but wasn’t sure what it was for. Probably her own thoughts though.
He nodded in acknowledgment to her words, though he didn’t get up. He had plenty of coffee at the moment.
After a moment, Jonathan felt the staring eyes of Boris and turned. Boris pointed at him, then at Kera, then back at him, confused.
“Apparently, we grew up together as kids,”Jonathan explained.
“The fuck?”
Jonathan snorted in amusement,”My thoughts exactly.”
He went back to drinking his coffee. Boris stared at the galley door, completely bewildered.
Kera tried to sleep the best she could but utterly nothing was working. She gave a pissed of sigh and sat up, giving up any attempts to go back to sleep
After a little bit, Jonathan decided to head back to his room, grabbing a sandwich on his way out. His mind was still whirling from his conversation with Kera. There was so much he had forgotten, and even more that he hadn’t even noticed.
Kera texted Jonathan “ hey Jonny boy, up for a game?” She offered
Jonathan noticed the text, hesitating a moment. He took a deep breath to steady himself, glancing at Edgar. He couldn’t help but smile every time he saw the bird napping.
‘Sure, why not’
Kera chuckled and loged on, getting her game face on like she did when she was small. “ let’s go Jonny boy!” She yelled from her room.
Jonathan heard her yell and laughed a bit, not sure how to truly react. He logged on, waiting for Kera.
Kera sent the invite, looking up at the camera and smirking. She just joined a shit lock server, they’d have to fight on their own to not die.
Jonathan noticed her smirk and sighed. He had a feeling this game would be tough. When he accepted the invite, his suspicions were confirmed. He sighed again, then shrugged, going with it. He would try his best.
“ just stay on my side and watch and learn.” She said through the game as she’d hooked up a mic. Keras player was a tanky character so while Jonathan fired she took hits and returned them
Jonathan snickered, having no issues with doing as Kera said. He preferred being sneaky characters anyway, whether they were thieves or snipers. And he had always had a good aim.
“These guys are lucky I don’t have a mic. I’d talk so much shit,”Jonathan said to himself, chuckling.
“ I’ve got an extra,” she taunted and grabbed her extra mic “ coming over be ready”
Jonathan was surprised by her comment and glanced around. He only had one chair, and then his bed, and then all of his scattered things.
He grunted, then straightened up a few things, turned off most of his computers to better focus, and made sure to stash anything Kera didn’t need to see. He did all of this while keeping an eye on the game.
Jonathan then went back to the game, keeping an eye on the door for when Kera arrived.
Kera nocked on his door with a half embarrassed smile, “ sorry, the gamer in me wants to hear you cuss people out.” She said when he opened the door
Jonathan chuckled timidly.
“No worries. I kinda figured,”he replied, taking the mic.
Kera turned to go back to her room, having spaced in grabbing her tablet. “ want me to come back?”
Jonathan froze a moment at her question. His mind whirled. Did he dare?
“Um… it… doesn’t really matter to me, I guess,”he said, trying hard to keep the nervousness from his tone.
Fucking hell. She terrified him just as easily now as she did then, but now he wasn’t sure why. Was she just that intimidating to him, or was it simply the still overwhelming fact that they had known each other as kids? He didn’t even know if those explained why.
Kera nodded, grabbing her shit. She ran back to his room and came into his room. “ I swear if you let me die..” she teased
Jonathan laughed a bit at her tease. He was really glad he had straightened up his room a bit.
“Um, I guess ya can sit on the bed. My computer gets temperamental if it’s not on a flat surface,”Jonathan said, sitting back down in the chair.
Edgar stirred, noticing Kera’s entrance.
“Rude bitch!”Edgar called, squawking and eyeing her suspiciously. Jonathan snickered.
“And don’t mind Edgar.”
“ mm I seen your video “ she said to the bird and pulled a cracker out for him
Edgar chirped, confused at her words. He nibbled at the cracker, still suspicious, then slowly took it from Kera.
Kera sighed, knowing I’d take a while to earn trust. She got back to her game and protected Jonathan. She stuck her tongue out while she strategized, something she usually didn’t do.. “ mmm,” she hummed half annoyed
Jonathan watched Kera’s interaction with Edgar, then went back to the game. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed her tongue sticking out, but he didn’t react.
Kera watched as half her noob team died “ fucking idiots “ she’d mumble
Jonathan snickered. He then noticed someone sneaking up on him.
“Ya sneaky son of a bitch… Come here!”
He whirled around and shot the guy in the head, chuckling.
“Gotcha, ya little fucking bastard!”
Jonathan turned his character back around, going back to sniping folks.
