“ birdy pics. “ he thrilled. “ kego find Melia one,” he said with a small squawk. He nipped at Johnathan's shirt softly “ smile beta!”

“Ya trying to say ya want to look at bird pics?”he asked.

Jonathan typed it in and slowly scrolled through the images of various birds. He then chuckled at Toaci’s request.

“I’ll try, but I might not have much luck right now.”

Toaci chirped and pulled out of Johnathan pocket “ pretty bird!” he said and tapped with his foot at a picture of a bird like him

Jonathan tapped on the picture, and it took up the screen. He chuckled.

“Yeah, definitely a pretty bird.”

Toaci chirped happily. Whistling a couple of times “ Beautifull birdy “

Jonathan laughed a bit.

“Do ya need a buddy, Toaci?”

“ lonely. “ toaci said softly and sat back on Johnathan's lap. He laid down and kept chirping softly.

“Well, when Keigo is doing a bit better, I could ask and see if he’d be willing to get ya a buddy. I don’t see why he wouldn’t,”Jonathan said.

“ okay..” toaci said softly. The bird fell asleep shortly after.

Keigo had been taking to Amelia till her fallen asleep

Jonathan stared down at Toaci for a long moment. He then remembered his words about getting a bird of his own. Was this his chance?

A small smile came to him and he looked back at the computer, deciding to play some random games to keep his mind busy.

Amelia continued to hold Keigo’s hand after he fell asleep. After a few minutes, she dozed off herself.

Eventually, Boris peeked in, and couldn’t help a chuckle. He then sat back down again, keeping himself busy with small tasks and a bit of reading.

Keigo rolled onto his side in his sleep, apparently a habit when he would sleep with Amelia. He seemed to long being next to her, though every part in his body hurt like hell and he knew sleeping next to her took a serious chance of hurting him more.

Amelia stirred a bit when she felt Keigo shift.

“I know,”she mumbled, not conscious enough to remember saying that.

A few minutes later, Boris peeked in again and noted that Keigo had shifted. It concerned him a bit, but as long as Keigo didn’t move too much, he should be fine.

Keigo woke to the sound of the door opening, “ Boris, go lay your ass down. I'm fine, just in a shit ton of pain.”

Boris laughed.

“You want something for the pain?”he asked.

“ nah, don’t much like taking medicine “ he said softly to not wake Amelia. He let go over hand and tried to sit up.

“Alright. And it might be best if you didn’t sit up, at least while your wounds are still fresh,”Boris said.

Amelia moaned when Keigo let go of her hand, retracting her arm. She curled up in the chair, but otherwise didn’t wake up.

“ I can’t stay laying down forever, ima end up getting restless. “ he said with a yawn. “Has anyone been over to check on toaci?”

Toaci had just woken up from his short nap and looked around, having forgotten where he was.

Boris snorted in amusement,”Too late. And I’ll message Beta-Man and Bull.”

Boris left to get his pad, returning to lean against the wall. He messaged Jonathan, asking if Toaci was doing okay.

Jonathan noticed Toaci looking around.

“You’re good. You came in here with me earlier, and helped calm me down a bit,”Jonathan said soothingly.

He then noticed the message and smiled, typing back.

‘Toaci’s in my lap. He came in to check on me and fell asleep. He just woke up. I love this bird.’

Boris snickered at the message.

“Apparently Toaci is consoling Beta-Man, and had fallen asleep in his lap for a minute,”Boris said.

Toaci settled, his feathers unfloofed and he put his head back down to rest on Johnathan's free hand. He clicked his beak a few times and let out a sound of comfort.

Keigo laughed a little “ he should try and leave him to sleep in there, been the first time he's slept somewhere that wasn't his pin. He must really enjoy Johnathan's company. “ Keigo said a little cheerfully “ I'm glad he's not freaking out though. The last time I got seriously hurt, he got so stressed that he started plucking feathers. “

Jonathan chuckled, going back to his game and gently petting Toaci every now and then.

Considering that he had only thought of getting a bird a day or two ago, he was liking the idea more and more. He hadn’t realized how much he actually liked birds until now.

Boris rose an eyebrow.

“Damn. I’m glad too. And it’s good that Toaci is hanging out with Beta-Man. It’s going to be rough for him for a while, since Maxim’s dead. And Beta-Man, though he’s the hyper one of the group, he’s actually rather quiet about what goes on his head. It took me a few years to figure out that little detail. He’s still a kid at heart, and he’s going to be lost now without Maxim,”Boris said, rambling a little bit.

“ I kinds figured. I'm just confused on why he shot me, there was no reason and I clearly was unarmed.” he questioned softly.

Toaci let off a soft trill at Johnathan whenever he'd pet toaci.

Jonathan smiled softly. Toaci’s noises helped soothe him a bit more, repeatedly reminding him that he wasn’t alone.

Boris sighed and glanced at Amelia.

“Maxim, though he was a good captain, was not a good man. And, after she left, Maxim went a little more psycho than usual. I couldn’t tell you why. My best guess is that it bothered him that she had gotten away from him. I don’t know. That’s when everything started turning to shit though. And, if I had to guess, she’s why Maxim shot you. He liked to… mentally abuse his girlfriends, sometimes physically, and Emma was no different.”

“ well, now he won't be doing it anymore..” Keigo said softly and looked to Amelia. He was there to protect her, and in the end, she protected him. How ironic.

Boris snorted.

“Nope. I only wish we had all figured it out sooner. Because none of us had known what Maxim was really like until the… incident that gave her that scar. He was a fucking manipulator from hell. But, what can you do?”he said with a sigh.

Amelia moaned then, shifting a bit and seeming to get more comfortable in her chair. She didn’t wake up though.

Keigo reached over and ran his fingers through Amelias hair and yawned again.
