Cal nodded, but looked down, not wanting to let his friends see him being so vulnerable.
Marya studied Ailith's notebook. "I think we should attack tomorrow. You guys aren't in good health and neither am I." she smiled at Cal, "So, Cal, do you want to take my offer of a picnic?"
Cal looked up, a boyish grin replacing his frown. "I'm up for anything, Little Wolf." He exclaimed, slinging an arm around Marya's shoulders.
//hello! did I miss anything important?
( hey! Nothing much, just Cal trying to flirt with Marya xD )
//okay, thanks!
im gonna ruin it now :D
Nimue woke up to Kirin huddled in on himself, eyes squeezed shut. He was breathing heavily and almost shaking.
Nightmare.
“Hey,” she said, shaking him awake. His eyes flew open with a gasp. “Are you alright?”
Why do I care?
“I- yeah, yeah. I’m fine.” Don’t trust her, she’s the enemy.
(how come I do?)
“Oh. Okay.”
As she thought about what she was going to do next, a red-tailed hawk circled out of the sky and landed in front of Kirin. It dropped a small scroll, which he opened and read before visibly tensing.
“Alright, Cal doesn’t have anymore time.”
"Don't get your hopes up." Marya leaned into his touch, sighing. "A picnic sounds nice for destressing."
Cal nodded, resting his head against hers as his dark hair fell across his eyes. "Anything including you sounds great."
“What does that mean?” She asked, getting up as he briskly walked towards the castle. He didn’t answer.
She jogged to catch up and repeated her question, getting the same silence. She stood on the edge of the tree line as he slid in through a side door.
Out of time, Cal. He whispered in the man’s mind.
What do you mean? Cal replied, pushing himself off of Marya.
I’m out of time. As a result, you’re out of time. The king’s impatient and I can’t stall forever. He slipped through the halls, walking up stairs and past doors.
"What's wrong?" she looked at him, hair falling over her face. Marya held onto his arm, "Tell me the truth. You've been acting weird all day."
"Hi, and no not really…" Kender said at the new person.
"Well if you mind I have places to go." She said and she got up and put a tip down
"Nah I don't really mind if you have to go….." Kender said .
She shrugged. "Alright then. I best be on my way before the king's guards catch up." She explained and left the bar.
"What's wrong?" she looked at him, hair falling over her face. Marya held onto his arm, "Tell me the truth. You've been acting weird all day."
"Nothing's wrong." Cal said, a smile replacing his frown. "I realized that I needed to check on Marcus. I'll be back in a few minutes." He explained as he pushed himself off of the cot and began his way towards the hallway.
"Oh. Okay." Marya slid off of the cot and watched the door slam behind him.
Kirin beckoned Nimue to him and she turned the corner a few minutes later. “Cal’s our ofmtime,” he repeated softly. “You get to go back now.”
“I read that message,” she abruptly after a moment. “Would he really…?”
“Yes. Wouldn’t be the first time, wouldn’t be the last.”
She had a feeling. Almost like she was never going to see him again. Marya grabbed her axe and headed out of the room. "Take care Ailith." she called out, before leaving. She swung her axe over her shoulder and started to follow Cal, staying out of sight. If he's not going to tell me what's going on, I'll have to find out for myself.
Where are you? Cal asked the man, taking wheezing breaths as he stepped through the hallways.
“Where are we?” He asked Nimue in a whisper. She rolled her eyes and sighed.
“Hallway that leads to the dorms.”
Hallway that leads to the dorms.
Cal paused to lean against the wall and catch his breath, blowing strands of dark hair out of his face. After a few moments, he began to make his way towards the hallway.
And Nimue is with you?
Good. Cal answered, letting out a breath he didn't know he was holding. He clutched his chest as he made his way towards the hallway, his breathing pained and short. "Come on, only a few more steps.* He muttered to himself.
//brb, like ten fifteen min maybe
