Soon, Alec had heated the water and was pouring it over the ground coffee. Before all of this had happened he had watched a few cooking shows with his parents where people had made coffee this way. It wasn't exactly the easiest way, but then again nothing was easy anymore. Finally sitting down the metal pourover kettle, Alec crouched a bit and watched as the remaining bit of water passed through the coffee beans and came out into the cup below as darkly colored coffee. He hadn't ever much liked black coffee, but it seemed like one of the best things ever. Especially since he had been eating nothing but boiled pasta and random canned foods for the past couple of months.
He picked up the cup and sat back down in the floor in a spot that was rid of glass. The coffee wasn't really all that hot, since the water had a chance to cool down in between being carried over to the counter and being poured over the coffee beans.
Enyln had walked down the street till she came infrount of a store where a faint smell of coffee came from. call out? Keep going? she weighed her options and decided it'd be best to watch whoever this was first. She crept through the window doing her best to avoid glass.
Sitting facing the back of the building, Alec had yet to notice that Enyln had slipped through the window. Swirling what remained in the cup, Alec continued to stare at it with a blank expression. Thinking of everything that he had before the disease had hit, he was deaf to everything around him. Snapping back to reality, he finished what was in the cup and set it down, still having yet to turn around.
"Coffee, good choice." Enyln leaned on a wall not far from Alec, but still far enough away that she'd get a good head start on running. "I'm guessing you're hard of hearing? That or deaf." She srugged, her eyes never leaving Alec.
Alec's eyes widened as he heard a voice off to his side. Whipping around, he dropped the cup on the ground, watching it as it hit the floor. Thankfully it didn't break. He narrowed his eyes at the stranger, this was the first time he had seen anyone for quite a while. And at that, someone alive. "I'm not deaf or hard of hearing… I just wasn't paying attention." Alec said, his voice surprisingly free of anger.
"Hm, you could be dead you know." Enyln narrowed her eyes only taking a moment to look at the cup. "Anyway, I'm guessing you're alone?"
"I am well aware that I could be dead." Alec snapped, getting to his feet shortly after. Crossing his arms he glanced outside. "Why do you want to know?" He asked, his eyes shifting from Enyln to the strip of pavement outside.
"You really shouldn't take your eyes off of someone you just met, especial in a world like this." Enyln sighed and shifted, "and no there's no one out there." She dodged his question by repeating herself, "are you or are you not with a group? I'd like to get a head start of you are."
"No, I totally have an entire band of people back there with guns." Alec sneered, crouching to sit once more. "There isn't anyone else here." He said, sitting the cup he had dropped upright. "What made you think that sneaking up on someone would be a good idea?"

"No, I totally have an entire band of people back there with guns." Alec sneered, crouching to sit once more. "There isn't anyone else here." He said, sitting the cup he had dropped upright. "What made you think that sneaking up on someone would be a good idea?"
"Oh you know, I kinda have a death wish." Enyln offered a sarcastic smile along with a glare. "And what makes you think sitting down is a good idea?"
"Yeah, fair point. I just figured that if you were to try and hurt me you would have done it already." Alec leaned back on his hands. "Plus there aren't any other people near by…you don't really have to regularly take things from people out here."
"Yeah, but some might find joy in that kinda stuff, you never know." Enyln shrugged again still not letting down her guard. its a trap. screamed a little voice in the back of her head. run now.
Nykidia walked down the road doing a little hum kicking glass out of the way. She adjusted her hat, which was a teal blue beanie. She started looking for a place for shelter seeing that there was a storm coming.
"Some?" Alec said, standing up once more. He scooped the cup up in his left hand and walked back over to the counter, straining his ears for the tiniest sound. He still had yet to decide what to think of the girl, especially since she had slipped through the window unannounced.
Enyln took a few steps back out of habit. Even though she didn't want to seem scared. "I'm not the some, if that's what you're thinking." She shifted around awkwardly not knowing why she was even here still.
"I didn't ever say that," Alec said, staring down at the used ground up coffee beans. Who knew how old they were? It was quite possible that they had been in that back room for years. Alec stood up straight and turned around, "So, why did you come in here?" He asked, motioning with a flick of his hand to the back room. "Was there something you wanted?"
Nykidia almost jumped out of her skin when she heard voices. "People? Here?" She thought looking around the empty town. It sounded like it was coming from a shop. Nykidia sighed. "It's probably just animals." She thought but never the less she started walking to the shop. "Even if there aren't people here than I can still see if there's any food."
