"Wow." Finn mumbled, his eyes glinting with excitement. "I think that still counts as magic." He could see why the girl missed her gloves so much.
"Wow." Finn mumbled, his eyes glinting with excitement. "I think that still counts as magic." He could see why the girl missed her gloves so much.
"Not really," she smiled. Finn wasn't half bad.
His smile grew when he saw the slight change in Azalane's mood. "Well, it's magic to me."
Aza laughed. It carried with a melodic ring.
Westan stirred in his sleep, Aza's laugh reaching his dreams. He moved slightly, letting out a sigh.
Finn turned around to face Westan, wondering if he was awake yet. "Westan?" He asked softly, not wanting to disturb him if he hadn't woken up.
"So, who wants to do the pleasure of knocking her out?" If Beaux knew earlier that she had a low pain tolerance, she would have had fun earlier on.
Westan jolted awake, eyes wild and crazed. "I'm here," he said in a rasp. "I'm here."
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." Finn said softly, moving to the side so Westan could see Azalane. "I've been told that you two know each other."
"Aza!" Westan exclaimed and scrambled toward her. "How long has she been here?" He reached through the bars and took Aza's hand.
Finn stared blankly at the ground for a few seconds, trying to remember how long it had been. It was difficult to keep track of time in a place like this. "I'm not completely sure, but it couldn't have been more than an hour."
Westan glanced back at him. "Why didn't you wake me up?" His eyes sparkled with newfound hope.
"Because you needed to rest." He stated simply. The look in Westan's eyes was one that Finn hadn't seen in ages. It was surprisingly reassuring to see Westan hopeful.
Westan flashed him a cute smile and blew a strand of hair out of his face. "You're too much sometimes, Finn," he laughed teasingly.
Finn blushed ever-so-slightly, chuckling along with Westan's laugh. "Someone has to be the responsible one here." He half-joked.
Aza raised an eyebrow. "Is this, like, are you two a thing?"
"A…thing…?" Finn trailed off, his blush becoming more visible. He glanced at Westan, his leg bouncing nervously.
"Um. I-I don't know? I don't think-I- What?" Westan sputtered.
(yo this is too cute)
A thing? What does that even mean? Like…a romance thing? A friend thing? I didn't think I'd ever have to think about stuff like that while trapped here. Finn thought, trying to find a way around Azalane's question.
"This is adorable," Aza said. "Wow, seriously, though."
"Can we…move on? Talk about something else?" Finn asked, sneaking quick glances at Westan. "I didn't mean that in a rude way, I swear. I just…" He had just met this girl, Azalane, and wasn't one hundred percent comfortable around her.
Aza laughed. "Yeah, sure. Whaddya wanna talk about?"
"Well…I don't want to bring the mood down but…" Finn straightened his posture a bit and lowered his voice. "Did you happen to overhear anything while you were part of the circus? Anything about…experiments? Did anyone ever mention us?"
"No. Not really. No," Aza said. "Harrow didn't really let us converse among ourselves." She waved her hands airily.
He nodded solemnly, staring at the ground. "Right, of course. That makes sense." Finn didn't know why, but he had been hoping that Harrow had said something about Finn or Westan to the circus performers. Maybe it was just the selfish desire to be acknowledged.
Westan moved back to Finn's side, letting his shoulder brush the other boy's.
