“I suggest you not talk back, love,” Vos rumbled, his voice deep and rich in a way that would make the strongest fall to their knees. To emphasize he tightened his grip slightly on the man’s neck again, his nails digging ever so slightly into the skin
Kain felt his body shudder at the sound of Vos's voice as he felt his cockiness crumble from him like a broken shell. He felt some points of pain shoot through his neck where Vos's fingernails were digging slightly into his skin. He maintained a smirk on his face but allowed his head a slight nod to answer the man's command.
"Name. Now," Vos commanded, his grip on Kain's throat tightening to the point of nearly choking him again. "You will answer me, or I will enjoy tearing you apart," he growled
I'd very much enjoy that as well… He thought as he let his smirk fall away so he could open his mouth to speak.
"Kain," he replied softly, staring directly into Vos's eyes. "Kain Calarook."
Vos stared at him for a long moment, his violet gaze fixed dangerously on Kain's eyes. But then, slowly, a sort of pleased smirk spread across his face. He leaned in, now dangerously close to Kain's face. "How intelligent of you. Unlike the rest of your species," he purred right by his ear before slowly letting go of his throat
"Of course I am," Kain replied with a smile at the man. It was not a kind smile, but rather an instinctive smile. He rubbed his neck as soon as the man let him go, but still stood before him.
"You're an intriguing paragon of your own species as well, I presume," Kain asked, raising his eyebrow. He was trying to shake off the chills that continued to travel through his body every time this being spoke.
"Of the highest accord," Vos answered, that lazy smirk still across his face as he spoke. Standing upright now, he was obviously taller than Kain, the lamplight in the distance highlighting his handsome, angular features. The violet was fading slightly from his eyes now, but it was still present in a dangerous glint. There was a long scar across his left cheek, stretching almost to his nose. His lips were also scarred, though it was minor and almost unnoticeable
"Now what would the epitome of perfection for your species be doing in an alleyway killing someone?" Kain asked, looking up to see Vos's face in better detail. He knew full well he was walking on thin ice. But he couldn't help it. Not when he had just stumbled upon someone like him, so murderous and beautiful. And besides, the thrill of uncertainty was just too tempting.
"Red is such a lovely color on you; brings out the homicidal intent in your eyes." He commented suddenly with a small nod, as if to agree with himself.
Vos gave a sort of incredulous laugh at that. "Was it not obvious? I've been dying to kill for a while now, and when that scumbag tried to taint someone's drink I took him out on a 'date.' Though it was certainly worth the time for me," he hummed, going off on a small tangent before stopping himself. He had been rather ecstatic after killing that man for several reasons-one of which being that he had found two tallies taken off for ending his life
"Hmm? Killing with good intentions, huh?" Kain bit his bottom lip in thought as he studied Vos's face closely; taking in every scar, every dent in his skin, every imperfection that seemed to make him even more perfect.
So that's why he didn't up and kill me right away… A good samaritan psychopath. Odd.
"Not willingly, of course. I hate being a slave to humanity's neediness," Vos said, a sneer in his voice now. "It was so much more fun when I killed them off myself. Nothing but cattle that needed to be culled," he continued. But when he paused, he took a moment to look Kain up and down. "But you, however. You are unlike any human filth I've ever had the pleasure of culling."
"Ugh. Don't compare me to those ruffians," Kain rolled his eyes in disgust, though he agreed with Vos. "They'll soon be destroyed anyway. It's like comparing a God to dirt." He added as he dusted off his suit and looked around for his discarded cane-sword and sheath.
"Here," Vos said, picking the sheath of Kain's sword-cane up with the toe of his shoe and tossing it nimbly into the air for him to grab. He handed it to Kain, still smirking lazily. He then took a cloth out of his trenchcoat before beginning to wipe the blood still splattered across his face
"Thanks," Kain replied curtly, sheathing his sword to turn his weapon back into a normal-looking cane. "I don't suppose you're curious about my plan to eradicate the entirety of my filthy species so I can ascend to godliness?" He questioned as he picked up his backup dagger and slid it back up his sleeve until it caught itself in a hold on his arm.
"No offense, but you're not exactly special in that plan. Why, I knew a muskrat who thought it would poison humanity by sacrificing its kind to slip into their meals. It didn't work, of course," Vos said nonchalantly. "Besides, I have a feeling you might not be any different from the muskrat."
"Ouch," Kain pretended to take offense and held the place where his 'heart' would be. "But you haven't even heard my plan yet, darling." He chided as he made his way closer to Vos with a smirk on his face.
"But I suppose I shall be off then. World domination waits for no one, not even a king," he commented before he began to walk down the alley, swinging his cane around in circles and whistling.
Vos watched him go, eyes narrowed a tad. Normally he would have let him go, but he felt compelled to speak up and keep him from doing so. "Wait," he called after him, beginning to walk towards him. "What was that? About waiting for no one, not even a king?" he continued
Kain raised his eyebrow and stopped his cane with a loud click on the ground. His whistling had stopped as he turned around to face the man.
"It doesn't take a man with half his wits about him to figure out you're a demon." Kain elaborated. "A powerful one at that." He paused, considering if he wanted to actually explain himself to the man. He let out a deep sigh before continuing.
"I've heard rumors… street rumors of course–always take them with a grain of salt. But these demon underlings spoke of a king, described him in legendary detail and fear whenever prompted." He tilted his head at the man. "I've always thought of these rumors as just that. Rumors. A legend. But it turns out I may have been wrong." He turned fully to face the demon.
"You look just like the legend. Granted, you're more scarred and taller than I was told" Kane finished as he stepped closer to the man.
(idk if it's okay for Kain to know this so if he shouldn't I'll write a different response lol sorry)
(yeah that works, I like it)
Vos raised a dark brow when Kain spoke. Though his lazy grin slowly crossed his face again once the other man had finished. "Well, well. Looks like you're more competent than I first thought," he hummed, the violet glint returning to his eyes again despite how it had just begun to fade. "So how would you like to bow to a king?" he purred, an air of regal authority about him now
"You're no king of mine," Kain replied sharply, although he did incline his head slightly in a sort-of bow before straightening.
"Though if you prove yourself, I may be inclined to kneel," He added as he inched closer to Vos, nearly touching the demon chest-to-chest.
"Now if you'll excuse me, King, but I am dreadfully late to a very important meeting." Kain made a very exaggerated bow motion as he turned around to see himself out.
"Perhaps if I get lucky, I'll see you around." King Vosk? No… King Vos?… Yes that sounds about right…
Vos watched him go, an amused smirk playing across his lips. “Vohanu,” he called after him, though he made no move to leave where he stood. “It roughly translates to ‘Black King’ in your language.” But before Kain could react, he was gone in the blink of an eye
"Vohanu…" Kain breathed out excitedly, the name bringing a tingling sensation to his lips. "Vohanu… Black King…" he kept repeating to himself as he walked back through the alley, on his way home instead. Compared to his meeting, being in the presence of Vohanu was far greater a pleasure. He skipped merrily for a few steps as he began to hum 'Mary Had a Little Lamb.'
Vos found himself in a dark apartment, a relieved sigh escaping him. He fell back on the bed, spreading out comfortably. Outside the window ravens tittered amongst themselves, their shadows peering into the room. Vos had just begun renting it, so there were still moving boxes scattered about
(lol do we time skip or nah?)
(or do you want a scene of Kain doing his villain thang)
