Marianne snorted loudly. “Right. Of all the teachers in the school, that’s the one I care about.”
Marianne snorted loudly. “Right. Of all the teachers in the school, that’s the one I care about.”
Mare grinned, proud she'd amused Marianne. "I chose him especially for you."
Marianne gave a roll of her eyes, shaking her head gently. “Wow, I’m so happy you decided to date me.”
Mare puckered her lips playfully. "Indeed, I'm a real catch.'
"Oh, definitely," Marianne affirmed, brushing hair out of her girlfriend's face. "No one's denying that."
Mare blushed and smiled. "You flatter me." She played with the hem of Marianne's shirt.
Marianne leaned into the touch, shaking her head. “No, I only tell the truth.”
Mare gently lay a hand on Marianne's cheek, holding her head up. She set a quick kiss on Marianne's nose and then shyly let go.
Marianne smiled as she pulled back, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear.
"We should seriously consider getting back to school," Mare pointed out, looking away.
"I guess.." she admitted grudgingly, shifting on her feet. "What class do you have right now?"
Mare thought about it, head still full of… various things. "Um. AP French I think?"
“I’ll see you after school, then,” she answered, giving a rueful smile.
Mare gave a slow nod. "Naturally." She let her gaze linger a moment longer and the softened shadows of Marianne's face, suddenly flawless in the fading light of day. Mare felt a pang to her heart, but ignored it. She turned away from Marianne, immediately missing their peaceful afternoon. She walked back to the school.
Marianne stood there, watching her go back into the school. Her arms, which had been warm a moment ago from holding Mare, felt cold and empty. Already, she missed the sensation of the other girl pressed against her, sharing warmth and something infinitely sweeter. After a moment, she shook her head to clear it, and followed after.
Mare got to the class a handful of minutes before the bell rang. She leaned against the wall by the closed door and sunk to the ground, breathing slowly.
Marianne was a minute late to her class, but the teacher was luckily some weak-willed substitute who couldn’t care less. She smiled to herself and sat down beside Lila, a girl that she’d been friendly with.
The door flew open and released a babbling outpour of students. She stood and walked into the class, taking a seat up front. Hopefully no one would join her.

To when?)
(maybe end of classes)?
(sure, want me to start?)

Marianne let out a small yawn as she struggled with her lock, fingers fumbling on the dial. Eventually, she managed to get it open, and got her bag ready as quickly as she could, slinging it onto her shoulder. It was unbearably heavy from textbooks and binders, per usual, but she forgot all about the weight by the time she glimpsed Mare from across the hallway.
