"So it'll be today forever? I mean as long as we're here."
"So it'll be today forever? I mean as long as we're here."
âUhhh I think so,â
"I never want to leave," Lillian said in total seriousness.
âWish thatâs intense,â Darren laughed, âWe can stay for as long as you want and we can come back whenever,â
"But if we leave then that ruins the purpose of not leaving."
âOkay. We will stay and get married and have children andâŚâŚ never leave?â
"Yes, I will never be an adult. I refuse to be one."
âPerfectâŚâ he pushed their foreheads together. âWould you like to talk about why you donât want to grow up?â
"Not really," Lillian said with her eyes closed, "It just feels like I'm losing something I never had."
âChildhood?â
"Yeah that."
âJust because youâre 18 doesnât mean you lose childhood. In most cultures 18 doesnât make you an adult and teenagers donât exist.â
"In this culture it does," Lillian responded, "Also when you think of childhood you think of when you were a happy, carefree, little kid. I never was a 'happy' 'carefree' little kid. Actually, I think when I was 8 or something I was already planning how I was going to finally get out of that fucking house on my eighteenth birthday. And then I started dating you and all those plans went down the drain. And, um, yeah."
âOh sorry, I ruined your plans. I could turn back time and put you back..â
âNO!â Lillian shouted a little louder than she should have. She cleared her throat, cheeks a light shade of red, âNo. It was a bad plan anyway.â
âWhat was your plan?â
âUh, run away? Rent an apartment, and pay the bills doing odd theater stuff or like a job.â
âSounds great. Can I come?0 he joked.
"Going from really quiet to really comfortable and open with someone is tough, can you really blame me?" Her voice was small, more talking to herself than to him.
âBut you used to openly admit you didnât trust me⌠how do you feel now? So you trust me?â
"I do. I know I can trust you. The real question is do you trust me?"

Ryan nodded, âof course I trust you.â
"Good to know. I'll keep that in mind." She squeezed his hand. "I love you."
âI love you more,â
She couldn't help but smile. "Impossible. I love you more."
She couldn't help but smile. "Impossible. I love you more."
âNo, I think that I definitely love you more,â
"Prove it." She chuckled.
